i though i would post this here too, to get some feedback from some more traditional artists, as well as other cg artists. this is a tank that i am working on. right now its at 4120 polys, and i have a 5k limit. i put a lot of detail in the treads and wheels, because i think that is the most identifiable part of a tank. I would love some feedback.

hey cinsev, glad that you like it! Here is an update. I finished modelling, and as i UVed it, found extra faces here and there, so now I can go back and add some minor details if i want. It was done in MAYA, and it's for a game art submission. heres a photo for some comparative criticism.....

Here is a work in progress of the texture for the tank. Any comments and suggestions would be great.

Hey oracrest,

Unfortunately I can't be any help with the model other than to say it looks great. But I wanted to ask, since I didn't see it here, is that an M48? - it certainly looks like one.

Good job, and thanks!

looking good so far, i would keep pushing the texture and give it some good lighting for presentation purposes and you will have a nice piece :)

I worked at Sega's AM1 United States dev team between 98-00. I made this tank model. I don't have the wire file but I believe it was around 800 polygons total. The game was called AlienFront Online. Originally made for the arcade platform "Naomi" hardware, it was later ported to Dreamcast, then rumors were that it was ported to some cell phone type portable system.

The wheels were square cards which rotated on a central axis and were set inside the tracks deep enough to not reveal too much of their flatness. The total texture size was one single 512x512 map.
