Painter and Tablet PCs

I have just purchased a tablet pc (not a palm pilot, but a laptop with a specialized screen that reacts to a stylus), and i really enjoy it. However, Painter 7 does not recognize the stylus as a stylus but rather as a regular mouse. As a result, I cannot take advantage of Painter like I could with a Wacom; i.e. pressure levels and varying brush strokes, etc.

Is there anything I can do about this? Does Painter 8 solve this problem? Are there any alternative programs that could help me? If not, I cringe at the fact that I spent $2000.00 and not have the control of a Wacom that costs so much less.

Please, any help would be much appreciated.

Try downloading and installing the latest Wacom driver.

If that doesn't help, contact Wacom tech support. You'll find their phone number on the Wacom site.

I have a viewsonic tablet pc and it suffers from the same problem(no pressure sensitivity support with painter, photoshop or flash). Alias sketchbook, which is designed for tablet pcs, seems to work just fine.

Ya, I second Alias Sketchbook, this awsome app is specifically designed for Tablet PC's. You wont find much in the way of paint controls but its a good replacment for pencil skecthing. I especially like it because its a vector painter and you can zoom in very close and you wont be reduced to pixels. You can download a demo at Alias.com

Please let us know what happens? I'm interested in getting a tablet pc but if it won't work with painter, I'm not going to get it.
