So... I've been a member here in CA for quite a while but I had never posted. Maybe because most of my stuff is quite lame.

I'm currently a community college student taking mostly graphic design and art classes. GEs are boring >.>!! I can only hope that one day I go to a major arts university but for now those are only dreams, actually goals. Anyway, My struggle started a few years back when a friend of mine told me that if I wanted to go for graphic design I should be able to draw well so I started going to the library borrowing book. Today, I know the theory but I lack of the experience. Although, the same way I got interested into graphic design I changed my goals (=P). Last semester I got to take drawing1 and 2d design and I found those classes amazing, (it was like a *slaps* in the forehead)and I though to my self "screw graphics I want fine arts =D"

I used to read a lot and draw.. well... next to nothing until recently that I started college. October last year I went from a couple of sketches every week to a daily sketch and a few drawings a week. I finally found some courage to post all my crappy drawings here next to all this amazing work hoping that you guys will help me become better. From posting in here I expect critique and found friends if possible but more than anything I hope this will push my self to try harder and keep going :yayca:

Ok, you want to be an artist, show some passion, work hard then work harder, then post.
You can do it, but it takes time and vicious amount of heart!

As promised, here is my first batch of sketches. It kinda shows some improvement, but still can't really draw that well. I mean, sometimes it just happens o.O
I'm going to post another pack later, right now its kinda late and still have some homework =P

Images are kinda crappy but I'm still trying to get used to this useless scanner >.>!!

Finally finished resizing some more drawings. As you can see I really suck at applying mediums; my blending is really bad. I have to also confess that I didn't really spend as much time or put as much effort as I should've but you can still see the improvement. In pretty much spend the same amount of time in all of them which makes me want to actually spend some real time on a drawing.

I would really appreciate some feedback and some tips to improve my drawing, mainly my blending =D

Next bunch is going to be some pages from my moleskine =D :yayca:

So I finally got around scanning some stuff from my moleskine. I have to try to fill it a little bit more though =/ Frome here on my update wont be as big since I'm catching up with this update.

Next time Ima upload some studies I've been doing lately. =D

I think the amount of still-lifes shows you have that passion. You could try abandoning colours for a while- so you can concentrate fully on form, rendering and values. Most of your strokes are very soft (aside from cast shadows) and that makes the drawings a bit hard to read, especially on the edges of the objects. You have so many objects in the same painting, why not take just some cloth and a bottle(for example) and try to really go in detail and draw something simplier like that as accurately as you can?

I really liked the hands in second(?) post, looking good. :)

Thanks Noora, I'm gonna try to get back to more simple compositions, and yeah you are absolutely right; even my professor has told me that I need darker values. Actually, it is kinda funny the way he told me so, "Hey you know, your line work is quite good, but when you throw the mediums in... well you kinda mess the whole thing up!" and I was like "ahem.. thank.. you? o.O I guess..."

Well, these are a few studies I've been doing the past couple of weeks, most while riding the bus. I know I should be drawing more than this but its kinda hard to find some other time when there is graphic design stuff and painting to do. Oh yeah, I'm taking intro to painting this semester and even though we are working b&w I'm loving it. So far we've seen watercolors and we are working with gouache. I'm just waiting to get my stuff back from the professor to post it =D

One last thing, I'm pretty sure some1 uses or has developed a method kinda the one I used for my studies so I would very much appreciate it if I can get a ref so I can study it deeper. Seems this is the best way for me to learn stuff o.O Thank You.

I feel awful that I haven't post in quite some time but I've been kinda busy lately. Anyway, I found a landscape I did with watercolor for my intro painting class. Then a "character" I did with gouache and finally a still life, although, on the still life we are suppose to use blending, but I'm still pretty bad at it. I've been practicing to the point I'm about to give up but I always take a break and go back to it. Anyone, any tips?:davi:

So after some months I'm back. It's been quite cool and I get to do a lot in all this time. Here is some stuff I've done. I would post all the stuff I did but its way too much, may that be a lesson to update more often.

It is mostly stuff I did in my animal drawing class, not hard to see my improvement =D

I know, the contrast in really low. Teacher already told me that. Anyway, that was my regular sketchbook, now some watercolors and some other more fun stuff =D
As usual I have an excuse for most things. The lobster don't have a background because the paper is really crappy >.> I should try to redo it in watercolor paper. AnywayS, next is moleskine =D

Now the more fun stuff =D and the most visible improvement. The almighty moleskine. Some from my animal drawing class and some other stuff while riding the bus =D the girls at the very end are reference ^^

After this I ask for a break while I resize the pictures of the rest of my stuff =D be back thou =D

Gotta love bridge!! So here is the last post for now. I have to scan some more stuff but I'm hungry now. For this last post well, the bisons are ink dry brush technique, not hard to see that I didn't like acrylics at all. My strong medium is probably oils but then again oil is kinda easy. I really like watercolors so I would like to keep practicing that one; thats pretty much it =D

You can do it, but it takes time and vicious amount of heart!

So I decided to really take on Mike's words ^^

This last semester was quite hectic at school. I was taking some graphic design classes and art studio classes and oh yeah, never, I mean NEVER!!! take Chinese mandarin along with studio classes.

AnywayS... Back to the "take on Mike's words." I've decided to do nothing else but art during a whole month. ^^ Unfortunately, scanner is broken and don't a have a digital camera. But, not to worry! I will be practicing digital arts as well, so I can post that for sure. ^^ The only downside is that I'm still getting used to the tablet :frustrated: so w/e drawing I post just multiplied by ten and thats how it would look in traditional media ^^

Ok, enough talking already. Here is the first batch of life stills and portraits. 10 minutes each.

Omg... Drawing on the tablet feels so hard and not confy D= and I'm falling behind schedule, about 2 hours today D= hope I can catch up 2morrow.

Anyway. here is today's bunch. I feel so ashamed of actually posting this crappy drawings >.< I haven't done so bad in quite a while =/

Oh yeah, I finally got the chance to shoot a 30min portrait sketch... with my webcam thou >.< you guys can compare ^^

So, here is the whole bunch of stuff I haven't post. It's been pretty hectic but im back ^^ I'm finally starting to get used to the tablet. Unfortunately I didn't get to be as familiar as with pencil but oh well, I still have 3 more weeks ^^

After a lot of experimentation I learned that linework is the best for 10min sketches, at least for now ^^

Here we go (did I mention I drew 42 portrait sketches in one week ^^)

So.. I'm back. I've been practicing mostly my five minute portraits because according to my instructor I have to practice "likeness", I do agree with him so I've been doing that.

I still haven't gotten me a camera so here are a few digital studies I did, 15 secs, 30 secs, 1 min. I think I know what you guys would probably say about that "stop doing fast drawings and start focusing on understanding the gesture" blah, I like fast drawing so here are a few... lame ones thou. Oh yea. I've been also practicing long gesture-like drawings. They are anatomically inaccurate but they sure look nice ^^
