I like it! but I think you're being a little cautious with your values. You've got the 100% black negative space but you need more areas that are 75-90% dark. That'll add a little more dynamism to this pic.

Flexi Elf! Haven't seen you in forever! But then I don't guess I wander out of EK much. You should stop in and say hi :P
About the art. Looks like an interesting comic so far. I do agree about the black and suggest darks that aren't total black.
On the first page it looks more like the the guy on the bottom right is mouth agape in fear which makes his text bubble not seem to fit. It's mostly his eyes I believe, the fact that he's looking up. Angling the ridge above the eye down a bit and moving the pupil a bit down and toward the right.
Second page looks great. On the third page I think her gun in the second frame looks a little flat. Other than that, great :D

Ya I agree about the shading. It's like there are two layers: Totally black (the background) and moderately light (foreground), and nothing in between. I also agree that the monster looks as if HE is horrified, rather than expressing what he's saying.

MeDrawUC - Yeah the black appears to be the consensus, I guess I should fix it. As for the horrified look, I was considering re-doing the first page totally anyway, if not, that at the very least.
Sunraven - I have lurked at EK every once and a while, I've only recently begun posting again, but perhaps I will :) Like I said t MDUC I think it's the consensus so I will fix that on the cover and on Page 1. Also, I'll have to fix the gun. Thanks! :)
Huge Har Har - haha awesome thanks :)
Titan - Thanks much! :)
bwkeough - Yeah I think you're right. I should at least do something with those areas. Everyone seems to agree on it. It seems to be holding the pic's head under the waterline.
Thanks!

Mr D. Thanks :)
I also added a detail shot up top. This one doesn't seem to be ringin' any bells and that's what the cover should do so I'm gonna re-work it I think.

Hey man,
I really love the girl, pose and color...she looks good...
If I had to pick something to crit it would be the white stripe down the middle...
I get what youre trying to do but maybe make it a lot narrower. or take the opacity of it way down and do a gradient on it...
thats it, but great work, I love comics stuff and wish I could get myself moving enough to draw some of my own ideas.
good luck man

hey elf
nice to see youre still working on this
my 2 cents
the composition isnt erally working that well IMO
it seems like your going for teh drew struzan collage feeling--
http://www.drewstruzan.com/
if so i would look more at those posters and the way he composes them. i think you could push the scale of things--(alot more soldiers and much smaller-for instance)
teh white bar is really distrating and doesnt really add to the content
and it would be nice to have a few more elements from your comic/wwolrd--to give us more info about what were getting into before we open the book--right now you only have like 4 elements
(this isnta big deal BUT more details would be nice too--since its a cover-liek what is she laying on? a bar table with tipped over beer bottles? or a lab table with bits and pieces of machinary and gismoz around. or...etcetc
anyhoo-- i really enjoy your work--and would love to see this on a comic stand one day soon

tyboogie - Yep the cover definitely isn't workin'. I have a feeling I'm gonna re-do it real simple with just her in repose, or an action exerpt from the story. Thanks much :) I'll see what I can do about getting it on a newsstand :) Just gotta fix this thing for sure first.
Titan - Yeah, like I was saying to tyboogie, I'm probably going to re-do the whole thing. If not it will mainly just be her on the bottom. Thankee mucho.
