I had the same sucker problem when I was in school. I like the vertical composition of this piece and you've got a good start on the shading. Things to improve might be some sharp highlights (like on the edges of the petals and such), more dynamic form to the hand (some anatomy issues going on), and strong definite light source would make the whole thing a little more dramatic. Girls like dramatic.;)

Anatomy and light source have always been a problem for me, and I hope to keep improving them.
