Here's a rendition of Medusa I've been thinking about for a while. I like squids, I like tentacles, ta-da Medusa with Tentacles. She's about finished but I would love any advice, opinions or suggestions, especially about the space around/behind her, which I am a little stuck on.
Thanks, hope you like it.

interesting style. do you plan on blending the colors out? not bad at all as it is, though some of the highlights on the tentacles seem a bit broader than the rest of your strokes, kind of breaks up the curious consistency of the style you're using.

I really like this. The scribble technique is something I would have never dared to do. It works well. How finished do you normally get with your art? I looked at your website -- very good -- and I'm just curious if you plan to push this any further?

The detail has SO much life in it. I get so much joy out of being able to see your color choices and marks. That gets lost in the smaller image. It really grays out by comparison. I wish I could offer you some advice as to how to deal with that, but I’m at a loss. I guess… show your work big?
Also, a note on value. This piece seems to be hanging out in the mid-tone range. It might not hurt to push your lights and darks a little more. Is this the pot calling the kettle black or what! I converted it to b+w and messed with the levels to show you what I mean.

wow!
Thanks for the replies guys I really appreciate it!
sicsic8: I guess I can see it as disturbing too.. but really, I just think tentacle head medusa is a neat-o thing.
malicious: No, I'm not planning on blending the colors out, I just make a ton of layers at different transparency levels.I never noticed that I used a bigger brush on the tentacles, thanks for pointing it out!
John Uibel: Thanks for the post! I'm trying to figure out what to do for the background, because I'd like to give her a classical-eque historic/mythological context.
johanson: Dude! You're so right about the contrast. I'm gonna fix that. And i think from now on, I'm always gonna post details.
