Damn. First go at inking and colour blocking with the wacom, and a figure as well - not my strong suit.
Anyway - going for a pseudo Battle of the Planets look, so no Power Ranger jokes please.

Samurai have shed their distinguishing armor and swords in the future to avoid capture by government agencies. The weapon idea is taken from one in the book 'Imagica'. It's a razor sharp 'ribbon' that acts as a sort of sword in the hands of a master. It is easily concealed. The other one I did got scraped because it looked like a futuristic 'goalie'.

As usual for me - it's another pencil sketch.
One day I'll learn to colour in photoshop or something.
I'm just not that confident with it.

MGH: I like the style and would love to see it finished in colour. Not that I can really comment on that side of thing <grin>
SIG: That's a really nice start; it has an oriental feel to the overall image. You should develop it more.

Wish I could've inked and colored this, but no time.
In the future, competition between Japanese corporations erupt in violence! The executives of these corporations, fancying themselves as modern day nobility, reinstate the samurai warrior class as a means to do battle with their rivals. Like the samurai of old, they do not use guns, but rather swords made from a new polymer that allows them to be superheated, enabling the blade to cut through concrete like butter. To defend the samurai from firearms, the standard samurai battle armor is equipped with an energy field generator that intercepts and disintegrates any bullets that come within range of the samurai.

Ok I worked on it some more ... some brushstrokes here ... some there ... and:

... j/k
But I actually put it at the very end of my "50+ sketches list" that I want to turn into finished pieces.
Love how you work with planes. Very nice piece.
Guess it deserves a background!? No?
Cybot Floor:
hrhr, signature, do all your figures step on frogs? i`m not sure, but i think i saw that before...
Yeah ... it's always the same girl that steps on frogs though.
I try to put her in the DSG entries if the topic allows it.
Great idea with the Harakiri :D ... and how you realized it.

necronet: nice idea and first alien in threat ;) but there is a lack of depth. you should shade more (dont be afraid of using black), or try to multiply the sketchlayer on top of the picture.
mr man: yeah, paint-charm is really distincive ;)
dont know, iv there are any PS-lightversions, but if you dont need the newest version (who does actually) you could try ebay...
a alternative is painter or opencanvas, which are both less expensive. the opencanvas demo is only a few mb, and can be startet 30 times. (after that you have to buy or save by making screenshots...)

Cybot Floor:
how do you actually paint? your pics look as if they are "real-life-painted".
Guess that's because of the palette. And because I smudge.
And because I don't use the line tool when I should. And because I don't add many details.
Does that look more digital? Did it with the same tools:
like most of my images they are done in the Gimp for Windows with a mouse
(because I lost my Wacom pen)
Each took about an hour I guess.

That's a great idea but the sad truth is that, in the future, a Sony logo on his chest would simply denote corporate sponsorship much like the stickers on a race car. "A proud heritage of honor and tradition brought to you by Sony and Verizon Wireless."

Sunny - Wow! Nice, sharp picture. It really stood against the rest out as I was scrolling - I like the unique texturing on the hills and trees. The only crit I have to offer is subjective - I don't like background behind the trees, esp. the outline around the sun. I think the composition would be stronger if you eliminated them.

He is a little slow, so when any one asks him his name he says "hmmmm...sam,…SAM,... are I” and if you make fun of him he will chop off your spleen and use it for a colostomy bag. ;|-p

Any feed back welcome.
Sunraven -- I like the feel of the image, kind of like a model spread for a magazine, I think a little more detail in her hat would help tighten up the drawing.
SABRE -- the use of the yellow for the panels really helps to bring the figure out, just that one glowing panel by his left leg looks a little off, maybe like it should be behind the right leg?
Matt Dixon -- star-wars in the eastern world... I see it being big..
JackalAnubis -- nice work, I like the use of the banding for the armor it captures the volume of the body nicely, but the legs look a little short, it might be where the crotch is on the pants, being so low and all..
~Cheers and great work everybody >;-)

Futuristic Samurai made me think of Molly, of Gibson's original Street Samurai. So, old school cyber punk street samurai, bad ass chick in leather predecessor to Trinity.
The pose is really stiff, and some things look a bit disproportionate, but I can't look at this anymore, and time is about up. Hope she's okay. :)

detailishness? Yup. Mostly because I really like her bangs.

Quick 15 minute sketch. Trying to take a photo of this before my camera batteries could run out probably didn't help the quality much. ;)

Hi, i am looking for a good picture of just a samurai armour, together with the helmet, without any person it in.
i am thinking of getting a tattoo of the above description.
the body armour should be something like this.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j252/Innuendo6/0983.jpg
now i do not need the hands and head, i need a fierce looking helmet to comlpete the look.
can any kind soul out there sketch me something of what i described above?

This is probably the wrong place to ask that question. Try in the lounge or maybe in the unpaid jobs section?
