That's sweet, can't wait to see it finished. I really like the glowing goggles in the darkness, real spooky. My only suggestion would be to make the background even darker, to give it a kind of grainy WWI feel.

lol maruchan, I love your advatar. Old school batman rules.
The background lacks some details, and I can't quite make out what the weapon is. But its a WIP so I really can't say much.

thx 4 comments first! :chug:
im really not sure about the bg so far, think i ll make it quite dark on left side with some ruins in it and lighter on right side with only sky and some stukkas.
as wapons i thought about some straight riffles - as those are supposed to be wehrmacht soldiers and not a part of the SS.
No problems with composition, proportions or perspective so far???
Cause I am wondering if i should move the flag-guy quite higher.

Hey m-p, good idea dropping your rough compositions into the forums for crits. The effort will save you time later on, and the end result will be better looking for it( I should learn from your example).
If the focus of the piece will be the flag bearer I'd say you need to change the direction he is looking. Let us see his face, his expression. Allow his posing and body language to indicate that he is calling his fellow soldiers forwards.
Are they all leaping from a trench? If so, block in the terrain more to make this clear.
It might look good too if one of the midground soldiers is looking towards the leader.
Good start, lets see the next step!

kk next update - thx jim for ur good crits; mmh i thought the pose of the flag bearer would suggest already that he is calling the others - think him looking at them quite helps with that. He wears a mask anyways so there would be like no expression :D.
the others are supposed to climb up a hill the flag guy already stands on - nice idea with having some of them looking at him will use that !! :chug:
i decided to first finish the main charac - so here is my update:

Glad to help. By blocking the terrain I just meant laying in big rough areas to illustrate the entire background.
Dont be afraid to use photo ref, find a shot of a hillside and go from there.
Neat details, the valve on the leaders tank is a nice touch (dont get too far ahead though, nail the final composition first).

oh and marc, a few more things to add lol,
forget stukas, we are gonna have some really interesting airplanes maybe in the back (a german experiment helocopter) i will give you the pic later when it's off the planning table.
Plus keep the fact that this is ww2 never ending in your head, and i like the idea of the gas tank on the back (good idea for the game) . And can you have one of the guys in the back have a mg42, with a belt box hooked on to it (like a m249 saw would have).
And finally, to give it a live action feeling, have a nice explosion in the background, with the dirt going up in the air like a big shaft, and maybe even some bullet flare's in the air.
that would really bring it to life.
