I've been lurking for months, and seen many stellar images grace my screen courtesy of this place. I finally mustered up the courage to put my own stuff in the mix.

Most of this batch was produced for school. With physical reference:

Some cartoon-ish pages:

Random things, some inspiration from DSG topics:

That's all I've got scanned at the moment. Sorry about the poor quality, what with the next-page-bleed-through and all, but I was pressed for time and the scanner was ancient.

More to come when I get some scanner time. Any thoughts?

(edited to be less generic in title)

Here's some more drawings. Perhaps these additions may warrant response.

Starting with some newer stuff:

from yesterday

from earlier today

Some older, but still new-ish material:

Thanks! I've been really into my anatomy class lately, and trying to draw at least a page a day to keep the skills honed. This thread may turn into a daily sketchbook, in which case a moderator has my permission (for what it's worth) to move it.

I thought I might include a sample of some 3D work I've done:
http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v72/quigley/jaguar.jpg

The landscape isn't too good, I know, but the focus is supposed to be the fighter in the foreground. I've been slacking on my 3D work as well, and though this is some of the most recent stuff I've done, it's several months old.

Some 350 views, and only one person has any comment? You guys are a tough sell. I may as well add some more 'till it interests folks, and then even more.

Here are a couple characters I did up recently.

This first one is a generic heroine; I know her head is big but that was intentional, yet it didn't come out quite right. Colored with pencils, which doesn't scan that well.

Next we have someone I dubbed "Louis," who was generated using a 20-question quick biography system. I gave somewhat random answers, and was left with a really odd starting point. He's supposed to be mostly Norwegian, living in Marrakesh after the British civil war (don't ask, I didn't think it through) sometime in the next hundred years. Anyhow, here he is:

Last, to be perfectly anticlimactic, we have a tree study:

That's all for this round, more will come when it exists.

firstly, nice work..

secondly, dont get down about people not replying, there are loads of posts on here every day and with a big post like this one, it is obvious that you know what to practice and that you are practicing. what i'm saying is, you work shows that you are progressing and the only comment people can make is 'good work' :-)

the newest set of faces are the best IMO, and the life drawings, try to do a life drawing with the entire body in frame.

cheers

Thanks for the comments, Ni*. It's good to hear that people think I'm on the right track. However, my main concern is that my skill falls somewhere between "needs work" and "damn that's cool", in some sort of void that leaves people without anything to say. This extends to everything creative I do, from music to photography to writing to drawing to animation. I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it can be.

My goal with posting in this forum is to try to make images which break this curse, and the irony is I won't know I've done it until responses suddenly pour in.

In this forum, I feel like vanilla in a turbulent sea of exotic spices.

All the same, I'll have more to add in the next couple of days. I'm gonna make a foray into the "new media coloring book" thread, as well, since my color skills are somewhat lacking.

Hi

The worst thing about that void your talking about is that it could take years to get out of... but I like most of your sketches so far.
Well anyway to say something hopefully constructive:
The girl in green in your latest post, if I were you I would have made the legs longer and give her a better standing position it feels uncomfortable. Have you tested to stand like that?
Her face looks like the girlface in your first post. Guess thats intentional if so...yeah you made it :D

Well thats what a amateur like me has to say at the moment.
