Hello!
My third sketchbook I start here at conceptart, the previous ones died quickly, this time I´ll try to stay more active.
Im on my third and final year at a classical atelier called Atelier Stockholm.
The oil paintings (first 2) are from before last summer, havent got photos of the ones from this year yet. The rest of the stuff is more recent anyway.
The figure drawings are 2-3 hours (except one that is 6), done in graphite, sepia and sanguine.
The picture with the giraffes is an etching.. don´t think I´ll be doing any more of those, wasn´t really my thing.

Very nice start! The first bust oil painting particularly sticks out as drop dead gorgeous. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more. :sungod:

Your training at the atelier must have really paid off; that first painting in particular is stunning, and all the rest of your work is really nice as well. I'm eager to see more : ]

Thanks everyone!
Okey, ended up being quite long between the updates.. my screen died and I was without a comp for about a month.. after that Ive just been slow I guess.
Anyway, lots of figures not much else :/. The first 2 are quciker ones, 10 and 20 min I think, rest are the usual 2-3 hours and one 6. Took a photo of longer figure paintings (several weeks of working on them) that I guess I´ll take better photos of later. Some drawing for a theme we had in school; "mythological victim avenged".. did an illustration for the end of the story about Samson.. Couple characters.. and then last a little abstract painting :P Figured I´d start doing something with all the paint left on my pallete by the end of each day =)

Really life life studies as has been said over and over :P. The work from imagination is clearly much weaker though, I don't know what your goals are as an artist so I can't say for sure but I'd recommend working out of your head more often, just cause if you do a lot of drawings from memory you will, in my opinion, get more out of the life studies. I find that if I don't do much drawing from my head but a lot from the model I actually will learn less because when you draw from your head you see exactly what you don't know. A lot of times doing a lot from life is great but I've met professional artists who can only really copy what they see and can't work from out of their head which to me, kinda sucks, their work is AMAZING and they've been showcased in magazines and been given commendations and awards but just can't do anything but paint with something in front of them. So I'm just saying it pays off to work from your head.
Ultimately it depends on what you want from the artwork though, the work looks great.

Quick Update!
Flyer for a show I´m participating in, my painting in the flyer.
It was voted best in show by the other participating artists!
Which means I get a scholarship of 7000 swedish kronor (which was otherwise the sales price) and the painting is supposed to be given to the crownprincess of sweden and her husband to be! Crazyness!
I didn´t hear about this exhibition till a week before your artwork had to be submitted if you wanted to take part in the show, and the work had to be 1x1 meter. Ended up with just 3 evenings to paint on it, really hectic but it turned out to be a great experience!
Check it out if you´re in Stockholm!
Thanks everyone!
MacTire - Haha, yes isn´t it amazing! It´s not just a random splotch of leftover paint! :P
Kvick - Thank you for the comment! You are definitely right, my work from imagination needs lots of improvement. I haven´t done enough of it really.. I´m not entirely sure where I´m going though, just finished the 3 years in the atelier so now it´s time to try to get somewhere. Will try painting some personal stuff now first and se how things go.

First 2 are paintings done now during the summer. First one is 90 x 70 cm (35.4 x 27.6 inches), second one is 120 x 80 cm (47.2 x 31.5 inches) Crap photos of those..
The rest is stuff from school that I just haven´t got around to post before.

Forgot to post this self portrait. Was done to experiment with techniques, tried to use the palette knife as much as I could. My intention was to do a second layer using some other technique.. I guess I´ll get back to it some day soon. Thought it might be fun to post it in this stage anyways, don´t know if it will look better after the next layer.
Oh and despite of how it looks, I was actually in quite a good mood while painting the self portrait :P

Thanks everyone!
Got quite a lot of images to post, think I´ll divide it into a couple of posts to make things easier. I´m currently studying at Repin Academy in Saint Petersburg, this is most of the stuff I´ve done there these first 2,5-3 months.. forgot to take photos of my portrait paintings and one of my portrait drawings. Guess I´ll come back and post those later.
The figure drawing I didn´t do during school hours, but after school in another class studio (so no teachers around to critique that one).. might be interesting to know for some friends that been asking to see what I do there at Repin Academy.

First one is 80x120 cm, oil on canvas.
Second 40x50 cm, oil on canvas.
The rest are drawings from life, except last page which is from photo. My scanner is pretty terrible...
