Here are two details from my first digital painting, the Rover for TOR books.
the models were my son Andy on the left and me on the right.

Dan these look great! Man, knowing traditional art first really helps working digital doesn't it?

excellent details dan. how big did you work for this image? the size i mean...looks really clean in the details.

I like to work big in oils and digitally.
I think that if I were to print this out full size it would be 20x30 inches

Definatley! Most of my pieces are from 11x14 to 18x24 @ 350dpi.

In the lower left hand corner of Painter is a binocular symbol, this has a red square that represents your screen and shows a thumbnail of the image in relation to the size of your screen. If you get the chance measure on your screen how many little red squares it is across to how many high, and you'll find most of your paintings digitally are the size of your wall! Or they would have to be to paint in the detail that you get on the computer. Pretty amazing stuff, being able to almost walk on your canvas :)
