Hi,
I'm Dandi8 and I'm currently forming a team to create a free sci-fi puzzle game with the Unreal Development Kit.
Knowing that I won't be able to convince many people without any quality work done, I have decided to first find a concept artist who will help me create a look for the game.

Who I am:
I'm a 3D artist who happens to love games, designing games and the whole process behind creating them. I also have a bunch of other interests like story writing, web design and map design. I'm less than proficient in drawing, however, and that's why I need you.
I have worked in one way or another with pretty much every major engine out there, even if most of my work was never published.
I'm currently working with the Flaming Ice team, the guys behind the PSP/PC game Solitude.
I have decided that now it's finally time to start my own team and now I'm here.

What I can offer:
-professionalism in managing a team - too many times have I seen team leaders treating their teammates like they're easily replacable or contacting them randomly in mothly intervals. I know that everyone in a team deserves equal respect and no one should be left without work to do.
-experience - I'm not just starting out in 3D art and I have previous experience in working with a team. I know the dos and don'ts of working with other people.
-a working communication link* - with our own private forum and an account on a proven file sharing app, there will never be a moment when you will feel left out of the action, having 24/7 access to the team's work for whenever you need to get some inspiration.
-a friendly approach - if someone's willing to do work for me, I sure as hell am not going to ruin it ;)
-exposure - this project is not going to be made for some underground community of moles. It's going to be documented with constant updates both on our own future website and on ModDb.

What I expect from you:
-quality work - you will be largely responsible for how the game looks like and how many people will join the team (no one wants to join a team which makes low quality stuff).
-detailed work - people (me among them) will be creating 3D assets based on your drawings. As such, your work should be as detailed as possible (without going overboard, of course - concept art is concept art).
-maturity - I don't want immature people who can't accept constructive criticism and don't respect others. Hopefully you're not one of them :)
-dedication - you should be dedicated to the cause, not just joining because you don't have anything better to do at the moment. I'd hate to see you quit after a month because of lack of interest. Helps if you love the sci-fi genre.

What would really help if you were good at it:
-ability to create interesting puzzles - the game is going to be a puzzle game, similar to The Ball, Prometheus, the third Penumbra game or Portal (although this one probably won't have any portals or time travel in it).
-providing feedback - I'm open to all kinds of feedback. If you think this game mechanic would work better than the other one, I'm willing to listen.
-any other game dev. ability - if not only are you a great concept artist but can also do some other stuff you think would help with creating the game, tell me about it!

Your job would be:
-Drawing environments
-Drawing props
-Visualising puzzle ideas

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The idea behind the game:
The player wakes up in a cold, dark cell. He doesn't know where he is, nor what he needs to do. The only logical conclusion is escape. He must find a way to get out of the cell and when he finally does, he finds out that he's on some kind of a spaceship. The location he found himself in when he woke up gives him a clue that its inhabitants aren't very friendly so it's clear to him that he should get the hell out of there while he still can. But... where are they? While roaming through the ship's massive structure, he finds no one. Whoever was manning this ship, disappeared. What happened to them? How to escape? These questions will haunt the player throughout the game.

I want to create an old school feel for the game by having no narration at all in it. The whole story will be told by the environment (all the more reason I need a concept artist).

The environment:
The whole thing will take place in an enormous spaceship, most likely of alien origin (still heavy on metal, though). Dark corridors with weird machinery all over the place, the ship is supposed to create fear and make the player feel claustrophobic while there will be both very wide and very narrow passages.

Now, for all you know I might be some twelve year old who thinks he can create the next big MMORPG game (although I hope the quality of my post proves otherwise) so here's some samples of my own work which I have created for the game. The idea is fairly young and I don't want to do any major work before a concept artist is onboard so I don't have much but it'll have to do, even if it's just some materials:

If you think you're good enough to be responsible for the game's look and feel and can create great atmospheric concept art, e-mail me, find me on Steam or simply leave a post in this thread.

*I haven't yet created the forum because of the project's early stage but once we estabilish some basic concepts, it's a 10-minutes job.

Wow, this post turned out longer than I wanted it to be. Hopefully this won't turn down any potential teammates ^^'
