Hey there, ryukin here!
I finally got the nerve to create a sketchbook!
... Though I'm still really nervous about showing other people my art :bashful:
Please feel free to comment and critic!
Okay here we go!
I did this on Paint and Microsoft Word of all places with a good old mouse!
I... think it turned out pretty decent?
So... one pic is my rough and the other is the final version.

Somehow between the rough ...
And this final version, he lost the scar under his eye :^^;: ...

Hey Ryukin welcome :D Its great to see you posting your drawings, everyones welcome here. I highly suggest you invest your self into a tablet if you want to do more digital drawing. A mouse just isnt a good way to go you have so much more control after you get used to the tablet.
Show us some pencial drawings to, keep it up!

Thanks Dy.laneA for the post!
Hmmm... I know what you mean about mouse control. Every time I had to do a long sweeping line I was always afraid the mouse would buck (it's one of those rolly ball types instead of the laser types) and go in the other direction... actually happened a few times...
Unfortunately I don't have the funds to buy a tablet (though I'm interested) and I have yet to acquire a scanner... But hopefully soon, I'll get one and as soon as I do I'll post some pencil/ink drawings!

Yeah Ive just started posting a sketchbook up a couple days ago! if your interested in gettin a tablet why not get a wacom bamboo fun pen and touch? Its the cheapest in the range and its a great tablet to start off with! i bought one the other day and its quite impressive.
But hey nothing beats a pencil right! so Practise with the pencil/pen first!

Can I ask how much your wacom cost?
I've been pretty analog about drawing so far but digital drawing has really interest me lately.

No problemo!
Wacoms are hella cheap nowadays, especially the ones they stopped producing or those that are outdated, I live in Europe though but every so often we get older wacoms for like 20$ or so, you can't doubt when you see a basket full of those!
I have a bamboo, used to work on a very old one, going bigger soon but those bamboo's do the job more than great :)

I personally think that you need a drawing program that's better than MSPaint. (Photoshop, Rendera, Photopaint, Open Canvas, GIMP, etc.

Your art is getting better, and you are very enthusiastic about it. Practice realism side to side though, because having a grip on that will help your cartoons turn out better too.
GIMP is a free tool that is similar to Photoshop, and a program "Paint Tool Sai" is only around $50 but has its own amazing abilities as well. I suggest using SAI because the brushes feel more natural. Good luck!

It's about time you uploaded some studies of some sort, but it wouldn't hurt to look for a few books by Andrew Loomis and George Bridgeman.

I'm slowly working my way through Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life.
I also started using Posemanicas.com. I try to do at least a couple pages of gesture drawings a day.

ryukin here!
It's been some time ...
To be honest, I fell into a little artistic slump awhile back ... y'know the whole I'll-never-be-good-enough-why-even-bother type of slump ...
It happens ...
Let's get on to some pictures!
Okay, this one I did around Thanksgiving ... Yep!
The rough was done in Painter, while the final was done in Painter and MangaStudio!
Enjoy!

It's been awhile ... again ...
Sorry about that :bashful: But at least I got a new picture for you all to enjoy!
This picture started off kind of random but as I was slowly developing it, a story started to form in the back of my mind about a strong willed princess and her timid companion who's more than he seems ... yep!

Anyway it's picture time!
This was a pretty random drawing for the most part. I was just doodling and somehow ended up with this hungry vampire ...

hey! really nice studies of bugs.
I like your anime drawings, they're really good. It's hard to find good anime artists out there, in my humble opinion.
It'd be cool if you would do an actual finished painting!

ryukin here!
Hope you guys enjoy today's update!
Round 1
This started out with me messing around in MangaStudio, then in Corel Painter.
I named it DarkButterfly because the screen tone I used in the background was called Blended Darkness.
You can hardly see the guy in the second picture :^^;: but I sort of wanted him to be swallowed up in the darkness.

1170694
Round 2
This is my most recent one. It took me awhile :^^;:
The gradation screen tones seemed like such a good idea when I was starting out but were a real pain a couple of hours later :nohope:
I actually like the rough better than the final version but it was so messy, I just had to clean it up.

JUST READ - Mushi-shi by Yuki Urushibara
I've been interested in it for awhile but never got around to reading it till I found the first 7 volumes at my local library one day.
Instantly fell in love with the artwork and story! <3

Found the first volume at my local library one day (cuz my library is just awesome like that) and liked it quite a bit.
I mean what's not to like about a series that has a talking grizzly bear in it :tihi:
Never read the creator's other work BLAME! but maybe I should?
