Hi,
How would one create/draw a face in three point perspect, For example, let's say I started with a big Cube type thing in three point perspective, and I want to plot / draw / cut a face into it. (as a drawing) and make it look solid. How would you do that ?
I don't necesarily need it to be too organic looking, that would be ok too, but I'm thinking mostly blockish and some ellipses, and other curved shapes in perspective. Tips, Suggestions, ideas, etc. ?
Thankyou,

To make a head in the three D I would refer to Bridgeman. He has an incredable formation of the head using the system you are describing.

Ok, thanks. I'm doing this project that is... will hopefully be awesome, I'm Also hoping for more direct examples and ideas. Maybe even proportions. I think I see it in my head, but once I get down to it, it has quite a few steps, lol. more tips please ?

Michael Mentler, on this site, has written some stuff on this. But, he's got his material scattered across several threads-- you'd have to lurk his threads-- sorry, I don't have an exact link.
I don't think Mentler really lurks the General Forums. So, you might consider PM-ing him for either advice or a location for the answer in one of his threads.

Bridgeman , and Michael Mentler, Two excellent Ideas. Thanks. I'll look into him.
What else guys, this is getting better.. but it's hard. I'm making the construction lines/scaffolding on the paper right now. The 3d head is rotating in my mind, I'm trying to work out plotting the points.
So going to pm Michael Mentler, thankyou.
Edit: I just found the book of bones, I think I can apply some of the information in it to the 3d head, Thanks !

I've played around with this a bit in 2-point.
The "box" is not really a good "cube."
Workable dimensions for a head-box, if you want to crank one out in SketchUp are as follows:
Width (of face): 5 units
Height: 7 units
Depth: 6.5 units
Remember, the back of the head is rounded, ovoid, so it will touch the back plane of the head-box at a tangent point. That means, visibly, there will be some "air-space" between the "back" (visible) of the head and the "back wall" of the box.
Mentler illustrates this tangency thing with an image of a soccer ball in an actual cube.
Hope that gives you something!

I think 3 point's only really practical when you start viewing things from a birds eye view or a bug's eye view ;)
When the camera are on eye level and the scene are mostly flat then you don't need it. But when you need to point out that stuff is tall in the scene or the viewer is small or in elevated then you should start using it. a room will be 2 point but if you are drawing from a security camera view you in the corner on the ceiling you might want to switch to 3 point.
To have a head alone in 3point you would either be pointing out an effect where you are really small, like a insect flying past a face, I think loomis has a drawing like that, a really massive face with dudes walking around it or I might be having imaginary loomis in my head. :)

Is the .5 of 6.5 for depth the nose ? thanks, those measurements help alot. I figured 7 for height, but was still working on the width and depth, cool looks right. This will help as well, Thanks Kamber Park. I'll built those boxes now.
Actually it's bed time. I'll have to do this during lunch tomorrow, my teacher suggested not to try to make it look like anything, but I didn't like the way my first one was going, it looked like a peice of the death star, or an MC Escher. Once I get the face in, I might creat another section of a deathstar or MCescher.
If there's anymore thoughts or suggestions go ahead and post them, anything I find out or if we get something cool out of this, I'll be sure to post it, it's several steps closer to the image in my head, thanks so much ^_^.

Zaorr, exactly =D
The eye level is off the paper, I have strings taped to the floor at three points around the paper for vanishing points because of the size I'm working at.

Mr_S_14:
The 6.5 dimension excludes the nose:
The idealization is this: the front plane of the "glass box" is flush with the brow ridge and the chin.
The nose would, actually, be glued on to the front of the "glass box."
