UPDATE:
Here are four of Carl's latest still life paintings. The first one will be reworked in some areas and is about 40 X 38 in. The others are basically life size. The first one, the pear, and the plum will be shown in an upcoming realist exhibition in Washington D.C. at the APEX Gallery opening in April. Anyone in the area should check it out. There will be more paintings and drawings from Water Street students as well as others from around the country.

--------------------------

I recently started studying at the Water Street Atelier and have seen some remarkable things happening there. Among them are the amazing works of Carl Dobsky, friend of Jason Manley and a few other CA members, whose drawings Jason posted last year. These are two of Carl's most recently completed paintings that he is happy enough with to post, and they look even better, if that's possible, in person.

This guy is making some of the finest art I've ever seen.. the first pics posted that he made inspired me to join CA and start improving myself.. You can tell him he made a huge impact on my life.. an icelandic guy trying to be artist :)

Tell him from me a huge "Thank you, Show more!"

He certainly can paint. Are these more of life studies or examples of his artwork?

holy shit, those are amazing, i have an original carl Dobsky self portrait hanging on my wall circa 1999. Carls art has grown so much you would not even guess they were done by the same artist.

thanks for posting this.

is the self portrait from life or from a photograph...it looks like it's from life either way.

Bumping the update..

Yes, he did these all from life, getting on the form and turning it with paint.
