Sheridan College in Oakvile, Ont. I did a year of Illustration there, followed by three years of animation. Good school.

Sheridan College is good...though there isn't much else to choose from.
Honestly though if you want to be an Illustrator, there are many ways to get there than by just studying Illustration.
Fine art/painting or animation or graphic design. Life drawing skills, painting skills and graphic design skills...that's what you need.
OCAD also offers a major in Illustration.
Visit the schools, take a look at the students' work and make your decision based on where you feel you would enjoy studying for 4 years of your life. :)
GOUT - when did you go to Sheridan? I also did Illustration there, and I happened to be from Kingston (in Toronto now).

The reason I am such a proponent of Sheridan (other than the mere fact that is where I went and it is all I know) is the figure drawing. When I was in Animation there were 18 hours of extra life classes available per week. That was on top of the 3-4 hours of scheduled class per week. The hours available for fundies and illustration students was a bit less, but still quite respectable. There is no better way I know of to improve your drawing skills than figure drawing, and I don't think there is a school anywhere around that comes close in that area (correct me if I'm wrong... things might have changed, but people I knew at other schools, OCAD included, told me as much).
Artificer, I just finished at Sheridan last May. I was in Illusration 1999-2000. You?

I totally agree. Life drawing is such a key component to artisitic development, and Sheridan does an excellent job of stressing that.
I started in Fundamentals of Art & Design at OCAD, and I remember being shocked that we had life drawing for a TOTAL OF THREE DAYS each semester! So shocked that I packed my bags and went off to Sheridan :)
I was in Illustration 2002-03...and now on to Animation :) Sound familliar? Hehe.
What I meant to illustrate to Bastion that if Sheridan is an unfeasable choice for him whether because of location, cost or just simply that he/she doesn't get in - all is not lost.
Some great illustrators studied architecture, industrial design, animation, etc...
If I felt that I wasn't getting enough life drawing though, I would certainly be supplementing them with extra classes every week!
