I dont rly like your 3nd scetches -i think u have to define them more and look for more logic in these creatures. Why is something here or there, how exactly does it work and why has the creature evolved thas way. Then again the 2 beast on your 1st pic are rly good and i believe you would make them all ecually as good if u had the time. Otherwise your last pic is awesome. This guy rly influences.I like how primitive-minded he looks, almost animalistic (as if sniffing). My eyes also enjoyed the shades and high contrasts. I suggest that u develop it further and i am LF to seeing it complete :)

Real nice work in here Asahi.
Looking at your photo referenced portrait from the 17th (Aphone2 by RedTown), your painting makes his face look slightly bulged compared to the original photo. It's a very subtle effect and I had to look it over for several minutes, but I think the cause is your brushstrokes around his lips.
The direction of those strokes (particularly on the left) are strongly curved and accent an already curved form, with the result being that his lips seem to recede slightly behind the cheeks. I believe some blending out of those strokes or a slightly less curved direction would solve the issue.
I'm being pretty nitpicky with that though, it's an excellent portrait along with your other work.
Also those "digital inks" look like a ton of fun, as you said. It seems like a kind of digital scratchboard, a medium I've always wanted to try. If I ever get a tablet I'll have to play around with that technique. :)

Last update not bad (though this colored one looks bit lonely) - i still impressed with previous update.
Offtopic - time is a bitch. You allways should keep in mind how much time you've spent at work, because if you slow - you're out. And it's a good idea to push yourself in time limit, so you could learn to do more at lesser time. Speedpaints rules!

Rashomike> thanks , i dunno why this one has been "quite" popular among my other pieces , i didn't mind, but it's just funny how different can be the points of view on a piece from the viewer and the artist i don't feel like i acconplished anything special or even push or try something out of my limits , still it works :) anyway thank you very much for passing by , i appreciate
Kojot >Thanks a lot :)
Setchibo> thanks , yes a crashed ship , i dunno what to think about this piece actually , i think i don't like it , but i'm glad you do :) thank you very much !
Seraph fawkes> thank you , and yes you're definitively right , it's good to know how to work fast for tight deadlines i guess , speed painting allow to find some techniques for time earning that can also be used for longer paint !! thanks for passing by !! and keep up the good work !!
M-studios> Hey thanks for passing by , to answer your question , i will make a long story short , i've kind of always draw but choose my way in graphic design ( so mostly layouts , fonts, prints etc.. nothing related to drawing) till i find out that was not as creative as i wished , or maybe something was missing , this possibilty to stay as a child who wants to see creatures , monster , heros comes up from his imagination to something that can be shared , seen etc... so i find out about conept art last year i think ( yes i'm a bit slow) and begin to be very interested in , quit my job , and start drawing drawing everyday by myself , so it's been a bit more than a year now since i started . So no school , nothing just internet , myself and advices from art communities like conceptart , thats all ;)
Thank you very much !!
----------------------------------------------
So i catched a damn cold recently , sticking for about 2-3 days , but i decided that sick or not i'll keep my promise with myself " at least one sketch a day" so i managed to do this one , there are some proportions issues that i'm aware of , but couldn't see those when i was drawing it , so i'll try to be more carefull next time !!

Anatomy i a bit off @_@
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/124/2/9/Daliy_sketch__6_by_Asahisuperdry.jpg
I've bought a moleskine A5 where i'll draw monsters/creatures depending on the place i am .
For example , the horse like was made on the highway during a small trip , so i had to create a small "story background" for it in relation with the highway .
" The Longilus (name) is a peacefull animal you can find on borders of highways , his main "hobby" is to race after cars "
The other one was made in a camping on the moutain , surrounded by forests:
"The Jorgh can be find close to campings on the border of a forest . Though he is not meat eater , he can do exceptions during summer with all the kids playing around who destroying young plants and trees "
Well the horse like concept is not really working cause his legs are too long and thin to be a runner , but i'll try to be more carefull with that ...

Hey man, great to see you ) Sweet update - almost everything rocks! Though can't get my head around that metal digi rendered grey thing... Nice pencil creatures and bots.
The last one piece look great, but if stare too long, I see some I'd like to crit:
* I know, that mount's head is in profile, but it looks quite flat
* Knight's head position doesn't match the composition. Try to pitch it up. I mean, there's a feeling that he looks down on something, like he would've stand on cliff, staring at something beneath it. But here they climbing up, so I think it would've be more appropriate, if he would look up, at point of his destination. Of course you can say, that they already reached the top of hill\mountain, and now resting, looks down, but then there's no feel that they standing. Of course I'm not crit source, but just try, maybe it will work out.
Cheers )

thanks for you feedback seraph , as for the dude looking down it is part of the "thema" i would say , the thema is " the fallen" , there is a short story coming with it , this guy was a landlord but have been put in exile by all 3 kings of the whole country kind , exiled .
The white thing above his head is supposed to be ( when refine) his castle flag that he drop into the wind . so yeah it is not really heroic "imgonnakicktheirass" :D but more disapontment , anger , sadness , like he doesn't have a choice to leave .
Well that's the kind of feeling that i want to recreate anyway, maybe i fail or it doesn't feet with the story , so feel free to share your point of view :)
Thanks a lot !

The fallen : He was once a great lord , always seeking and getting more power , coming to a point that the 3 kings of the continent banished him . He was put in exile for the rest of his life wandering from one country to another , forbid to settle anywhere , nor to stop more than 2 days in a place !
Still need to make the beat pop out i guess

dude, these are AWESOME!
the last beast looks more flat because of the side-profiled head...if you had it facing a little more forward, it would help with the depth, i think. also, something in the colors - maybe the contrast - on the beast's body make it flat. could deeping the form/core shadows (basically upping the contrast on the side closese to the viewer) a little on the near side make it pop more?
you should change your signature, cause you're definitely going in the RIGHT direction! keep up the good work...

Hey i definitely think you're going in the right direction too :D
But one thing to point out..
The character's gauntlet seems weird, it's like it's bending awkwardly with the picture :\

No no, everything's ok Great rendering as always. 1 thing though - beasts head look way too bald and round. Right now i have feeling, that it's sockpuppet's head. Maybe some part of armor on top of it or some mane, comb would do the trick. Not crucial, but might worth a try ) Still - you're good artists, some do what you think is best )

Hey This book is Great! four stars for sure:)... I see what you meant about the blacks.
"king in exile"
I would use less warms
the blue sky popping out gives me some hope for him, when you might not want that...
are you planning on making a silhouette for the back leg ?, from looking at horses it would probably be coming up with the front leg. that rock overlapping his paw pushes it too far back IMO.
I hope you don't mind my suggestions, from the looks your almost done anyways right??
anyways I will definitely be checking in here more often!(subscribed)

Lovin' your black-and-white inks -- you make that technique look easy! :D
Only thing that I notice to crit is anatomy; for some reason arms and torsos seem a bit off, in particular...
Otherwise, rock on, Asahi-SD- :)

Ripping right along. :rendered: Your black and white character and creature designs are pretty sweet but your enviros and robos are looking really good, too. Keep 'em coming.

Wow. Your work rocks. I've actually saved a few of the paintings to my inspiration folder. The metal textures are just amazing, especially in post 35.
I can't wait to see more.

This last one is a really strong one...
and if "Still need to make the beat pop out i guess" means "Still need to make the beast pop out i guess"... I think you've selfcritiqued yourself quite nicely.
Indeed the beast seems to be a bit too light right now, also might want to darken the foreground out abit or something; Knight and the rocks under the beast look great!
