www.artrenewal.org (http://www.artrenewal.org) has many older male bodies in the old master's pieces for the girl who asked a while back. Which is great, because, there's less worry about copyright infringement. (you should never sell or display work in your portfolio that is a copy of a photo someone else took, without buying the rights) It's not photography but it can work in a pinch.
I like using porn images but my inspiration was Sorayama in highschool...personally I don't view sex as any different than another human activity. So I appreciate the image I pulled earlier out of this thread that was pornographic! banzai!

An AMAZING collection of playmates of the month I stumbled across on a google image search (how did I get any of these images on a search for Paul Bonner [could be the last name]). Anyway, the old images are the best, very classic.

they're not all necessarily nude, but obviously if you pick a name with a 'P' next to it you'll be sure to get nudity. Also a good reference if you need to find a particular celebrity/model/etc... for charicatures etc...

Still haven't found any good sites for overweight/normal-shaped models. I see enough thin, breasty, young people already in the nude, I need to find more older, average-or-over-weight, and less athleic images. anyone?

Don't think this has been mentioned before, but here's a site with scans of nudes before Photoshop and breast implants. Great for drawing references, cause you know the anatomy's not deformed (aside from lens distortion).

I was looking for underwater photos of nudes, I only found one - this is a generally good site for looking at real anatomy as you would see of animals on national geographic

I took a bunch of myself this morning, unedited because almost everything of women on the fucking internet is edited to hell

Anyone have links to any overweight/thin reference images. I am pretty tired of seeing too many beautiful women and men, not that they arent interesting to draw but I prefer the irregularities of the body in art to the perfect. So while I would relish in drawing someone like Naomi, unless she adds on about 8 more stone i'd probably have to go looking for someone in McDonalds.
Thanks for the nudist resort though Naomi, alot more "imperfect" people :)

it's nice I figured out my timer, I only have 10 seconds to get in a pose though
look at the way the top of the femur shows through the skin on the bottom pose
note that my hip bone is wider than average, to accommodate larger babies. if you placed your fingers on the side of the hip there you would feel the bony surface under about a 5 cm fat layer so that is actually showing a different skeletal type than usual :) this is a very plains native american type skeleton
skin tone is not accurate, irl it has olive undertones and none of the pinkish hue you see, although it is that pale, you would definately see a lot more green
this causes the abdomen to attach at a far wider point than most people (mostly men) try to depict with a wasp like figure which can only be achieved through use of extreme corsets... it's not natural. very skinny waists only happen with smaller hip bones and that's about it :)
I have to pay about a 100 dollars more for my jeans to get something that isn't made for fat people :( ie "skinny leg" jeans that fit my hips look baggy from the top of my thighs down) D:
Nordstrom's is the only place that carries jeans that fit me without having to get custom alterations.

In that case, I didn't say anything :p I like the bacardi pic though, it has a certain 'edge' combined with the spontanous feel of "hey, let me take a picture then while I'm at it" which you don't see in 'posed' nude photography. You should do more 'bacardi' shots then. :p

I have figure reference material available on my site (http://www.basement-picasso.co.uk/new/index.asp?tab=blank§ion=blank&link=blank). This does require a subscription. The virtual models allow you to pick a pose and then rotate the figure. You can also put different lighting on the models. You can get the images in colour or black and white, and also add grids or golden section lines automatically. When subscribed you have access to full 1024 pixel wide images.
Example nude pose (http://www.basement-picasso.co.uk/new/vm_pose.asp?posenumber=24&tab=studio§ion=lifeModeller&link=Female%20Nude)
List of Nude poses (http://www.basement-picasso.co.uk/new/vm_summary.asp?tab=studio§ion=lifeModeller&link=Female%20Nude&poseCategory=Female%20Nude)
Clothed poses (http://www.basement-picasso.co.uk/new/vm_summary.asp?tab=studio§ion=lifeModeller&link=Female%20Clothed&poseCategory=Female%20Clothed)
Hope that is of interest.

Have not yet reviewed all posts but:
my favorite nude references are, in no particular order:
Eadweard Muybridge"s "The Human Figure in Motion" . It is the original and one of the best.
"Realistic Figure Drawing" by Sheppard
"Water Dance" by Schatz . BEST pics of underwater nudes!
"Illustrator's Reference Manual Nudes". Chartwell Books. Every shot from 8 angles.
"The Nude Figure" by Smith
"The Figure in Motion" by Easley
"Figure Drawing" by Goldstein
"Anatomy of Movement" by Calais-Germain. Excellent work with clear sketches.
And anything I can glean online , usually of nude athletes or dancers.

Some of my favourite gif animations illustrating simple breast movement.
I wish I had an original high quality versions but they are good enough to catch the basics and also the most tastefull(Not to mention hypnotic, male DNA trick Hehehe!!)
A gif animator tool could be used to view them frame for frame or at a slower rate.

Alright
I found out something today. "Gym" bod models are not as appealing (to me) as "athlete bod" models
Gym bod guys look like they have tits and everything just doesn't look natural...
Anyways I was searching hardcore for a certain pose, happened upon two very different sites, one of mostly professional male models - a fair assortment of unusual stock images, and an amateur site with a delightful array of varied body types.
More guy references, please, people...QUALITY

I gotta say that athletic male reference is difficult to find, especially when you're a dude and it's not something you really want to look for :p. Cheers Naomi for posting that they are pretty good. Neutral poses have gotta be the hardest to find, in terms of free stuff. I just mention that because I've looked for neutral poses (multiple views of the same pose) for anatomical digital sculpts. having said that I havn't properly searched this thread, so the point may be moot.
Naomi Ningishzidda
March 15th, 2009, 11:07 AM
Hybrid, good to see you
well I am looking for an arrogant looking pose, his head held high, a bit of a low perspective and hopefully with one arm raised, and no boob-pecs. I am almost sure i will have to build the anatomy to spec or take ref of myself.
I havn't exhausted sculptural reference though, there are some pretty good Greek statues with normal anatomy.
The blog I posted "Just Beautiful Men" can be either obnoxious or silly, depending on your mood at the moment. But I did find more than a dozen useful photos. And as well, it's pg-13
Most of this thread happens to be skinny female models and bodybuilders I think - it's been a while since I sifted through it. I try to keep up with it all as it goes along.
I'd like to find a good greek and roman statuary site, if the ARC doesn't have them all in one place someone could compile a list

Hi
If like me you don't have access to live models, good video for some reason works better than snaps. If you can get hold of some HD Met-Art they are good without being degrading or vulgar. They often offer the best lighting for study. Just hit the pause and you have a pose, the plus side is you get to study motion, gravity, rythm etc..
I think the brain snaps to a 3d view in order to understand animation like this, when you hit the pause the effects or mindset linger for a while.
There are also some stereoscopic pics on the net, that is also a quick way to notice just how bad a 2D image is for study, looking for bulk shapes, perspective etc. Breasts is the obvious example, compare the feel and idea of a bulk 3d shape with the 2D outline mental mode a normal photograph puts you in. It sucks. Those are closer than they appear to be. :)
Here is some free high quality ones I have found. Click for larger original.

Best is to freeze frame video's for motion capture poses, but I don't know of any nudies that will have falling, losing balance or strange behaviors. If you subscribe with 3d.sk or any of those, they are incredibly open to new suggestion. when I was with them quite a while back I suggested the skeleton and to use lighting here and there that put's more emphasis on form, a week or two later those stuffs have been put in there. I subscribed for a month back then and downloaded everything they had. Good luck trying that now, they are HUGE, and I never got the skeleton. Darn.
You will have to use normal footage and use your X-ray vision.

well if you are referring to my hentai I concur to the title
but if the process of using porno images I see nothing spectacular about it - most pornography just fails to amaze my vagina these days as opposed to a good quantum physics paper - yum :yum:
although I admit to te term "perv"
in visiting this thread I would like to relate I am taking a series of nude photos with clamp lamps for lighting for a big project I'm having problems finding female ref for, so if anyone has a need for a couple of photos of a certain pose I can attempt to provide them. I may even use my backyard for the project if I warn my neighbor or use the goth club solution of electric tape pasties and g string.

The best I found so far.
Dudes sharing what they have baught. Not to sure weather it's the most legal option but it's a good way for someone to see what femjoy has to offer or what their video footage are like. Maybe promotion will make up for it as I'm sure they would love to become an artist favorite as they too are trying desperately to try and make money while not having to become a smut factory as some of those models end up as.
http://www.forumophilia.com/topic89319.html
There is good studio like shoots, outdoor shoots; some have excellent movement poses and lighting etc. There's even one running with a soccer ball etc. You might have to do some digging for body types that have good anatomic definition but there are some.
Next up for me is digging HD sites for sport. Ice scating, gymnastics and boxing. I'm sure my mind can remove a little thread of clothing by now. From what I noticed in here, boxing has the best potential for getting the male stuff, fast.

Yes, I'm afraid those get slotted in with the porn and I'm afraid those forums are hosting pirated material. You get sites that host the free low quality but still uber usable stuff for free. The supersized poster versions are not. You get free preview video clips too.
It's actually erotic art, there are a couple I would slot here.
Femjoy(More older woman or oft more fully formed volumed bodies)
Met-art(Most erotic teen-art, the formy woman are a tad on the short side)
Hegre art
The movement in their clips are usually good and they have little or none of that magazine shoot lighting setups with front reflectors and crap, mostly the lighting they use are natural lighting. Sometimes you even get shoots in an art setup or model-painter setup where the whole display is draped in monotone cloth.
I have a few of the clips and those are enough, I earned those for promoting them into the art world where they are most usefull where they might get more clients with a more professional attitude and one that might boost the morale of what they do a little to keep them from falling into the smutt pit, you will have to pay for yours. MWAHAHAHA!! Just joking. Piracy is bad. Give them some money to buy some, umm... jewelry.
I would have deleted my post but it's already quoted.

Porn, featuring predominantly girls, isn't the nicest thing for a hetero female to look at when following links for nude reference so I appreciated the male ones for a change. Thanks Naomi :)
I would like to contribute a fetish site I found [http://www.martinperreault.com/index2.html]- it's probably up on this thread but I've not had time to look. he does really dynamic photos and it's perfect for rendering rubber/robot skins etc, also useful to see how the human form is changed when wearing something tight.
Hope it's useful to someone :D

Lots of outdoor nudes at this site, mainly free galleries from Femjoy, Met-Art, Hegre, etc.

Angel, I don't think your link works.
The last link is alright, but I kinda wish there were more artistic pieces.

I went into a porn or adult store yesterday with the hopes of finding some of those old Perfect 10 mags that have good full body pictures If I remember correctly, but they didn't have.
I like working from hardcopy better, perhaps if I invest in a dual monitor setup.
Stuff that I did find was good nude male books one was called something black and the other was old photo collections from 17XX-18XX but they where expensive. They didn't have the same for female's, only the same old polish. But on my way out I did notice something... There is a fat fettish going on, there was a section of magazines that features fat woman.
Didn't buy any but I might pick up a copy or two later.. I doubt if there's anything out there that will beat fat nudie mags.. When it comes to studying lipo that is.

This site here has TONS of pictures, all nude. Seems like this is anatomical heaven.
Some B&W, most color pictures, there's almost litterally endless amounts here. People doing all kindsa stuff: from regular poses and movements to playing guitar, violin, shooting bow and arrow and stuff to name a few. Only downside is some or most of them aren't spectacular quality/resolution. :)

Besides the ones that are linked on fineart.sk are there anymore ones with different ethnicity and body types? No offense, kinda tired of all the Whites and I know Blacks are 10% of the population but looks like only 1% of the thread? I know certain ethnic groups may be harder to find due to customs, laws but I'd really like to know if some have encountered some good ref sites that have them of different body types (males too!)
Thanks!
Oops forgot to add in this link I had a while back from a keyword search in Flickr. Found some nice interesting girls from Africa participating in the Dipo ceremony.

A veritable goldmine, this thread. Thank you for the links as well as thanks to those who contributed personally with pictures of themselves. I'd return the favour but i'm a bit iffy about showing face :P. Plus, there are enough photos of athletic, young caucasian males out there.

I like these photos, and the girl. On these kinda athletic girls you can see the muscles much better and the light-play helps as well, which is very good when trying to do studies.

The poses tend to get boring over time, tho. But the anatomy is really nice.
