Not the most flattering term to use so I was wondering what is the process called? Notice how the "whites" seem to glow an exaggerated ambient like glow and the darker colors are very darker than usual, also exaggerated.

Here are some examples:

Again what exactly is this term/process called?

Can't quite get what you mean.

If it's the high contrast between the white and black - that's just high contrast.

If you mean the process by which you get effects like these on film, like tinting or raising the contrast of the image, it's called "grading".

Just the shadows blending into black is "underexposure". The lights washing out into white are "overexposure", and if they are so overexposed that they have halos eroding the adjacent areas, it's called "light bloom". Sometimes used as a special effect.
