any chance you could shed some light on how you do this stuff? we've all got different ways, but you're getting these kinds of results... i'm dying to know what you're using.

Your line work is really nice. I'd hate to see you darken it all as much as have started inthe color, because it really starts to lose it's intricacies in the darkness.
But... BEautiful! Yeah. I like it. Nice technique, and nice forms!! Very giger-esque.

its visually neat to look at but it's really weak in any area of contrast. the entire thing kind of blends together as this amorphous whirl of lines. i love what your trying to do, but i think if you pushed it a little bit further with an intent on trying to make the chaos slightly more controlled you'd have something that's really amazing.

Interesting! I'm wondering how do you start, do yo focus on on a few shapes and build out from there or do you plan things out ( as I can see by some light gesture marks)?
It's a very itneresting process as I saw your last drawings progress, like an evolution, growing :D Very nice and a bit confusing towards the top but I'm sure there is room for clarity as time progresses ;)

Pretty amazing that you use only a pencil, curious... does it take an eternity to clean that? takin in account that level tool helps alot I still think its crazy to clean all this... mind posting the pic unedited just to see the difference?
I like how you blend flesh and mechanics and the heavy ammount of detail integrated in your art. Sometimes its confusin but sometimes thats good too :p anyho... sometimes your mechanical part is very detailed while sometimes its jst plain, ionno maybe ad screws or stuff cuz it jst pops out and seems unrreal unlike the rest of the pic (note: the whole pic is unrreal cuz monsters like theses shudnt exist but u get my drift).

That last one is superb. The level of detail is seriously tense, and I think it looks best on the previous one because the detail isnt on such small parts and I think it allow for more space and makes it much more easily viewable as in some of the previous works, you really have to focus to make out some of the parts. But this is definatly some insanely good work and I hope to see more.

wow, this is bitchin stuff, very crisp. the detail is really what makes your work awesome but i think some of the business seems like it's just there for the hell of it and takes away from some of the real thought out detail (i don't know if you're thinking out every little line or simply going with patterns you like).
looks like in your last few pieces you've gotten back to leaving some free space so you've pretty much solved my problem already.

Have you ever tried Airbrushing this kinda shtuff? I think Gigger did some airbrushing. If you are all talking about the guy I think you are. Anyway, good work, my only tiny little quibble is there is hardly any gradation, so most of it looks flat. I'm really not a fan of this. But I do respect your skills and discipline! :bashful:

This stuff is utterly fantastic, I can only dream of being able to pick up a mechanical pencil and just drawing this stuff! My only thing is that some of the character drawings are so detailed that my eyes can't grasp the picture as a whole, they just dance to different parts, which is good but I can't figure out what I'm looking at all the time!

While I really do like your stuff, it bothers me that you don't acknowledge your influences. Most notably, as many have pointed out, H.R. Giger. You have a very cool style of working, and I would try to move away from Giger some. I would also work on your anatomy, and try to incorporate a little more "bio" into your mechanical. The last image you posted, and the one with the trees are some of the stronger pieces because of the less Giger-esque feel to them. Anyways, since some people don't understand who Giger is, I've posted a couple of his images along with this reply.
...one of Giger's felt tipped pen drawings

While I really do like your stuff, it bothers me that you don't acknowledge your influences. Most notably, as many have pointed out, H.R. Giger.
Why does it bother you? We all are influenced by someone in our art It is impossible to work in a vacuum. What matters is that it is your art and not just an attempt at riping off someone one elses. This is not Giger's art it is Hard Creation's, credit does not have to be given to Giger. Not to say that we shouldn't aknowledge who has influenced us but it isn't wrong not to, nor is it nessasary unless your intent was to try and copy an artists style. Also it is very possible that he never heard of Giger before this. Also doesn't seem like Hard Creation is the best and the english language either. Just my 2 cents Don't want to start an argument..
jfwalls
April 19th, 2005, 01:41 PM
I knew this would get some people going. Obviously everybody is influenced by somebody, but you have to try and push that influence to a new level. I too am a huge fan of Giger. He is the reason I picked up an airbrush, and as I learned how to use the tool, I copied his technique and style. However, as I grew as an artist, I moved away from "looking just like Giger", and incorporated more of his artistic "philosophy" into my work rather than his look. I guess my main problem with this thread is that Hard Creation is getting alot of comments on how "unique and different" his style is. When in my opinion, and it's just my opinion, he should try to push his work to a new arena. Try to build upon this Giger-esque influence, and create something new. With just a little tweaking, Hard Creation's images really could be something unique and seperate from what Giger does.

i dont think Hc is influenced by giger, you might think of it
in the very first seconds of looking at it, but if you examinate
his works in deep you will see his uniqueness. :bashful:
(unless he admits being guilty hehe)
i believe, in my very humble opinion, that his influences are
doom, unreal, war hammer 40k and a lot of other things.
but that influences are like 20% of his art.
cheers and keep those stunning art pieces coming.
