I'm from the U.K. (and going back soon) and I swear I recall a story where a neighbourhood somewhere in England thought one of their residents was a paedo... so basically killed him.

Then discovered he was a children's doctor.

To be honest, a lot of the U.K.'s problems would be solved with tougher punishments for crimes.

Make "Life" mean "Life" etc.

Though then the taxpayers shed some tears that they'd have to pay more to keep the country criminal free... and all you're left with is irony.

At least that's my take on it. I really don't read into it all too much. I'm just noting the U.K., for example, has a huge issue with young folk who enjoy acquiring Anti-Social Behaviour Orders... as far as i'm aware the law is meant to be feared by the populace... not the populace feared by the law.

Have lived in London since September, haven't been stabbed yet thankfully. There is much more visible police than I have seen anywhere else, (but then again, I'm from Norway) and I've only seen a few cases of violence, usually broad-daylight domestic disturbance...

Having moved from a much smaller Norwegian city, I am actually positivly surprised by how few times I've felt unsafe while walking around. Still, I've noticed that UK newspapers feature a lot of material on crime, allthough then again, the UK newspapers are mostly tabloid shit and scary-headlines probably sell well.

Dont read too much into the tabloids here, when theres nothing interesting to report, they create mass hysteria on issues that are quite expected of human nature. Of course, there will be a protest for the subject at hand, but seriously, does it absolutely need its own damn thread here?

C'mon, your as bad as the media...

(And no, the English are not out-of-date regards to the spelling of 'Paedophile' its the rest of the world who change the spelling for their own lazy convenience.
Paedeatrics, Paediatrician etc etc... some of you's need to go back to school...)
