Very nice work. Not the style that I usually like, but you made it look great.

Love the backgrounds. How long would the average page take?

Post some more pages.

:O i love them, they look great, how long did it take you to do them? i like the way the characters in the foreground are more apparent that the figures behind, and the way the backgrounds are established is really well done, good work :)

Awesome work! Is the comic going to be published, or were these just for kicks?

Grrreat stuff! These comic pages make me want to burst through a brick wall and shout: "Oh yeah!" while wearing a costume that makes me look like a gigantic jug of red sugar-water.

I too am curious to know how long you spend on each page...

Ahaha, I don't usually like Anime... and the Anime I do like is the darker gritty stuff (Cowboy Bebop and the like)... but I must say, your style is really awesome... I laughed out loud at the last set. I love the panel where they both stop talking and look at his mechanical arm... I just KNOW they're both thinking "WTF!?"

:p

Keep it up

in my mind, this has pulled away from the "norm" of anime enough that it doesn't have to be catagoized as such. what it does have to be catagorized as is good. i really like this. if this gets published, i will certainly purchase a copy.

Gezstar - Hahaha! That last page is hilarious. To me, the key to comics and story telling in general is great ability to convey emotion/or idea to the audience, and that page is right on point. The second page is cool, but I wish there were more panels to build up more to the guy bashing the cop in the head. The first page is alright, but for a scene like that which is more about revealing the setting first and then the characters in it, can be difficult to do it in an interesting, catch-your-attention way. Like for example, it took me a while to realize, that was the guys futuristic bedroom (I think it's the bedroom). I think there could have been more clearification to the environment in that page/scene so that we the audience can identify with the story there more immediatly.

I hope you don't take this crit the wrong way, I just think it's cool to be able to disscuss art work openly and productively that could help everyone out to add good tricks to there kung fu, great stuff.

Thanks for the response guys :)

Red_Rook - Thanks. The pages don't fit together. I picked some out of the comic, which is 22 pages.

SEVANS - The average page takes me one and a half days total to write, draw, colour, and letter.

behemot5 - :)

foster - Thanks jon! I'll put some more up asap.

liquidwerx - Cheers Malachi! :chug:

Davidskiwan - Thanks! See the answer above.

Dementist - Thanks. It's a mini-series called 'Digital Graffiti', published through APC.

gasmask - Cheers.

Muttonhead - lol!

Seraph - Thanks.

JOSHUATHEJAMES - Cheers!

Loga - Thanks.

ProudestMonkey - Thanks :) Yeah to be honest, I don't like much anime either, but the ones I do like, I love: Metropolis, Perfect Blue, Ghost In The Shell, and the Miyazaki films.

Rulebook - Thanks.

malicious - Thanks! Hopefully you can find it in a comic shop.

heiesuke - Cheers.

Chris J. Anderson! - Thanks for the in depth crit, Chris. Pretty much everything I learn about drawing and so on is from responses in forums, so I do appreciate you taking the time.
I agree with you that there should have been more panels leading up to the collision. It was really a case of having to fit a scene into a certain number of pages, but I should have organised it a bit better, or maybe lost part of another scene.
About the first page, yep, agreed again. When I letter it, the first panel will have a narrative box indicating the location, a club called "Marlon's World", which readers should be familiar with (this is issue 4). The slightly detached nature of the panels was an attempt to reflect the guy's mood, but I'm thinking it probably comes across as weak storytelling. Maybe some detail shots of the room's interior would be better? Anyhow, thanks again for the critique - it was very useful.

Shadowkiller - :)

Stunning work, I love the lighting and use of color in the latter two.

I'd be very interested to hear a brief explanation of the process you go through in this work.

just great! you have found away to combine the anime and the western comic-style perfectly. the city(?) in the first panel got great colors, but just like chris said, there should be a few more panels to stress on the action on the secound page. zhe third one is cool, but why doesn't that guy pull down the bra completly?!
:chug:
excuse my poor english

Gezstar - Yeah, I learn a lot on these forums too. This place is cool. About that second page, I know what you mean about having to fit a scene in a certain number of pages. It probably only needed one more small panel of the dude behind the cop with an angry, but to the audience, hilarious looking face and pose, preparing for the beat down..and then him clubbing that cop on the head. The expression of the cops face that you have already is funny, that dudes in a daze. That second page is professional as it is tho, regardless, to me it still works very well.

You said about the first page "The slightly detached nature of the panels was an attempt to reflect the guy's mood, but I'm thinking it probably comes across as weak storytelling."

I think the detached nature of the panels reflecting the guys mood is a cool idea. All I think it needs is defining what you already have in those panels more. More light and contrast in areas that have identifiable objects like, the bed and other stuff in that room. The environment would be more clear then. Can't wait to see more!

Could you place pictures of your work in progress, I mean a tutorial of your stuff. I got the drawing thing down and I can color in old school materials but the digital stuff is killing me. Help me.... thanx

andru - Thanks! Well, the media are pencil + digital. Since the pencils have to be pretty clean, I do my underdrawings with the Wacom. Then I print them out as a blueline, and pencil on top. Then I scan them back in, eliminate the blue, and paint in the bg's with Painter. Next, I take it into pshop, and do the cel-shading for the characters. Lastly, I make some adjustments to integrate the chara's and bg's properly, and finally add sfx & word balloons.

merd - lol, this is a pg-13 comic ;)

Chris - Thanks again man. Definitely useful stuff, and I'll keep it in mind when I do my next pages (which is now). I'll have more up asap. :)

dem0n - Cheers!

thek0n - Doh, I didn't save WIP's on these. I'll do it on my next pages though.
