Great pic but...
I think you missed it a liitle on the composition. You see, the guy is near the right edge of the pic and he is looking to the right. It takes your eyes away from the picture. The lines help though, now that I look at it again.
That is minor though.
Nice peice

I actually like the odd composition... It flows from left to right rather well. It is very- "here's what I am saying and now I'm done". Very succinct.

i tend to do my compositions that way as well, the way they're looking isn't where the greatest distance is.. i prefer doing it that way, sometimes..
he looks like a composer.. just the pose (i'm a big classical buff).. the way he's holding his hand feels like he's just going along with the music
the font and lines i'm not too keen on.. the black i think stands out a bit too much.. too "clean" for the rest of it.

I agree with the comment about the type and lines... looking at it, it would be interesting if the type and accompanying line had a painted in quality. As if they were part of the world the image reflects!

Or.. not even painted.. just grayed down some.. you really have few true dark darks in the piece.. which is what i think makes the really careful lettering pop out more.

I personally think that the composition could be better.
But seeing as others disagree and say its good how it is, I think you should probably just keep it. Who am I to say my opinion is better than anyone elses, you know?
Anyways, I really like the style of this piece, and the colors you used.
Very nice.
But get rid of / make that B less noticable..its distracting!

I think that piece is cool...I have no remarks
about composition,and I love ``message`` of your
illustration.
Nice.

than you all!
shadowgirl>> you are right about making the lines & words less noticable. i posted too fast! :)
about the composition, it is wanted. i am used to make pictures, word, and i am aware it looks like a mistake... but it is more like the message stalecracker saw in it.
it is a way for the character to flow slowly to an end. it represents the part of the track he is listening to at this very moment of the picture : almost the third and last part

I've heard it before but I'll say it again, red noses are cool. I love the painterly feel and omnipresent lighting. I think his thumbs a bit too small though, even with foreshortening. Needs to be fatter at top.
Great piece.

what is "so, sound...& smile?" meaning "so, listen and smile" in a borgeauis way?

brads>> yes kinda, i wanted to mention the fact ('sound') more than the passive action ('listen').
