So I had a week to make this... so it's pretty rough at parts. But I'm currently refining and finishing it.

I also don't really know much about animating movement (never had a class/I animate on 8.5x11 copy paper), so if there are any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.

Pretty cool. I wish there was more to the story for how much dialogue there was. I think that was great for using copy paper.

very intense, nice use of images setting the scene and clever use of animation to

Nice artwork. Some aspects of your perspective are a little off. Also, a lot of the things you've animated (like the cars) seem to "strobe" - I don't know if this is because of the optimisation of the file or what. Normally this can be fixed with some breakdowns between frames. Not a lot seems to happen in the story either, but a book on basic animation principles wouldn't go astray. For example, when he reaches into his pocket the arm would bend back, there'd be follow-through on the hand, and it would probably be in his pocket for a second or so before he pulled it out again with whatever it was he picked up.

Do you have a lightbox? You can get fairly cheap ones these days and they'll help a lot with getting the action right if you want to keep animating with paper.
