View Full Version : Drawing for Tatoo

So a buddy of mine wants a dragon tatoo and he came to me to make one. I've never drawn a dragon before so after looking around a little and sketching some this is what i came up with. There's a problem though, he wants the dragons head to wrap around and end up the the right side of his neck, with the body across his shoulders and the tail down his left arm. The neck on this one is too short, but i like it anyway. If anyone draws dragons or knows artists that do could you point me in the right direction for a pose and body style reference. Thanks

just draw a line art, texturize your pic will confuse the tattoer man...

thanks for the info. i have no idea what kind of sketches they work from and any info helps.

they will redraw your line art on "copy paper"
(not sure about that word) don't know if they work all like that but thr one i know do like this...

Your dragon looks a lot like a griffen to me personally but it is good.
From what i've seen of how they get tatooes on the person the design is put on the kind of paper that the cheap non-permanent tatooes come on and put it on you and then transfer it to the person and go over the lines with the actual pins.
They could also free hand it on then trace. It all depends on the tatooe artist.:chainsaw:
