I'm looking to do get an animation degree (BFA) ideally in a state college to avoid a lifetime of debt, but I'm unsure of where to go. I hear wonderful things about San Jose State University's animation program, but there are a few problems:
1) I HATE San Jose.
2) Their program is 5 years long. I've already completed all of my general education (the liberal stuff) and now I'm working on my pre-reqs for SJSU. I do not want to spend 10 semesters in San Jose, and I'm not sure if I can take multiple semesters together, since their five year plan contains the GE too. I've tried to email their staff to answer my questions but no one has responded.
I would ideally like to study (if it had to be away from home, NorCal) in Southern California, because I love the atmosphere and I have plenty of friends and even family. I was looking into CSU Fullerton, but I haven't heard anything AWESOME about it--I do know that many of their students work for Nickelodeon--but anything else?
OF course I want to go to a program that offers excellent education and very useful internships and helps with finding careers in the field. But I do want to consider where I'd have to live and have an enjoyable college experience. Anyone have any knowledge of either of these colleges and can help me decide? Or are there any other colleges in the mentioned areas that are good too? (keep money in mind)
Thanks for the help!
