I've been away from this site for a while (joined in 2002 and haven't posted in four years) and have just returned astonished at how much it has grow. Truly fantastic, bravo.
I was in New York last week and caught the Tim Burton show at the Museum of Modern Art. This is an truly amazing show and a must see, however, it personal nearly destroyed me. I left profoundly depressed. I like to think that I'm a creative guy, I work in a creative field (I'm an architect and professor) and that I know how to draw, but the reality is I read emails all day long and actually draw very little. Burton and I are of the same generation, and never mind having directed ten very nice movies, the guy had about a thousand drawings in the show. Granted he's had a lot of great help getting his stuff done, but I left wondering if I'd misdirected a sizable part of my life.
From this point forward I publicly commit myself to redirecting my life into genuinely creative endeavors, to reposition myself professionally to bring the best of my abilities to contribute to the world. To draw everyday and to expand my techniques.
Please look for future posts of my work, and its great to be back.
