Well here it is!
this is my start into "serious" colors.
this is my first try at doing something, paying attention to the colorwheel, values, chroma etc...
Iīll see how far I can get
this is at one and a half hours

I did not have anything specific in mind. I just picked a light blue-green as base color, and worked it up from there on.
It is not about the picture itself but about the colorjob. I hope i can get it done
edit:
the original size is about 1500x1500 px at 200dpi

I love the colors, but for the life of me I can't see the cave...

but itīs coming... I SWEAR!
well right now there is only a dark purple spot where the entrance to the cave is supposed to be, once it is finished.
after all... it is a WIP.
Thanks for your support on the colors... it hopefully shows that i am heading in the right direction.

BTW, I hope its an icy cave, because those hues really suggest ice and cold.

well i guess it is icy... but i donīt really know.
My main concern is to get the colors working together, but it does look rather icy.
I put some more work into it... like 20 - 30 minutes or so...
Did a lot of detailing and decided to get rid of it afterwards.
Realized that it was too distracting and so i just picked up the big ol "shadow-brush" and go rid of them details...
But i guess i have to put some more "detailing" in the shadows now. Some more color variation might be a good thing... Iīll have to see!

Well... there it is!
i consider it finished, since it was more of a color study and stuff.
i learned quite a bit...
i learned how to use textures in painter, and i paid attention to values and color relation.
I realized that it is really necessary to keep the strong saturated parts between the lights and darks, so that the image becomes more depht.
It was quite fun to do that painting, although it took me only about 2 hours or 2.30h...
any crits would be welcome!
