Hi everyone.
These are a few of the drawings I did in college and some recent ones I did when I was preparing a portfolio for art schools in US. I was accepted to Pratt Institute in NY with this bunch, but could not attend for various reasons.
I just signed up for the 5 week Discovery program of TAD, and I'm hoping to post much better ones after the program.
This first drawing is an observational one of my own hand.
Thanks in advance for all the comments and criticisms.

This was my first work as I was preparing for art school in Turkey way back in 2000. No formal training before this one.
It's an observational drawing of my running shoe.

I really like your sketches and your shading/the way you use the pencil. Beautiful. Something about Tom Cruise's portrait looks off to me but that may just be Tom Cruise ;-)

I agree with Inishmore, in that the way you use your pencil is skillful. I do think that even though the portrait of Tom Cruise is done well, you did not quite capture him. Something is definitely off about it because when I got a glance at it via Peripheral vision, I knew it was suppose to be him, but to look directly at it, there isn't a likeness. If you could pose the reference pic, that might help us figure out whats going on there.

Thank you Inishmore and Hitnrun for the comments.
The problem with Tom was something I had noticed unfortunately after the drawing was finished. His jawline is lower than where it's supposed to be, so his face looks longer. I always think he looks more like Conan :)
Guess it helps not labeling the drawing with his name on the portfolio descriptions when applying to art schools :)
