Spent the better part of a month and a half on this project.

Everything you see here, front cover illustration, title logo, back cover design, spine and front cover decorative ledge, was done by yours truly. The back cover, spine and front ledge will be used for the entire series of Arcane Codex source books, while the cover illo and title logo are just for use in the Dark Elf source book cover.

0 photo ref for the cover illustration. Had my chick do some quick hand poses for the Dark Elf priestess that I sketched form life, other than that, it's strait from the head. The cover illo was pretty heavily art directed, so color and style choices for the character's clothing wasn't my decision. The noble guy on the left is a little stiff, but all in all, I'm happy with the results.

The back cover, spine and front decorative ledge were done by painting one side and then duplicating and flipping it to keep both sides exact. After they were merged I came in a painted some little details, mostly nicks and scratches and such.

Anyways, I hope ya dig. :)

i really like the design for the cover and back cover.
cool character designs and well rendered, but the guy on the left, his waste looks really small as do his legs.
maybe its cuz its so smal that im missing something, but he looks very topheavy to me.
all in all great work!

great design.. looks like lots of work went in to it. i love the borders and most of the cover.. one thing that i really can't get over is the front most character.. her anatomy seems strange to me (aside from having 6 arms) and one of her right hands (which happens to be in a very strange, almost distracting position over her crotch) seems too small..
i also agree with the crit above, the big red guy's waste is pretty small.

Well done, lad... the design and the composition work very well (to me). I might have chosena different font for the logo, as it's really hard to read, esp. with the horns curling over it. The only other crit I can offer is that the girl's anatomy and pose make her look stunted, she's supposed to be appealing in an evil sort of way, I might have turned her so we'd get a shot of hip and leg, which would obviate the need for her hand over her crotch, which isn't working for her. The male character on the left has similar anatomy problems. However, I love the paint style and the saturated color. Man, I'd kinda like to have you paint over my pencils sometime.... - mh

Top notch stuff.

Yeah, the girl looks weird as her breasts have one really dark shadow and at the same time there's nothing being cast on her belly. She looks dwarvish.

Then again, I love the rest. Keep it up!

class work man, I'd grab this off the shelf in a heartbeat (guess we'll be seeing the censored version stateside)

the left figure is too stiff, but you called that already - the problem with the female isn't her breasts or the cast shadow, but just that her head's a little too big for her body. Still she's awesome, great centerpiece for a badass cover

Sorry for diggin' up this thread after a good week or more. I just wanted to take a second to say thanks for all the comments and crits. While some crits I agree with and others I don't, I still very much appreciate the feedback. :)

Take care,
