Hey everyone. Did this for Mercury Outboards, for a new product they've got coming out. Started as a mechanical 'robot' shark but ended up moving somewhere between that and the real thing. C&C welcome.

the style is good, but i think it lacks in form, nothing to make the eye follow is all i can say. But it looks good.

Thanks Jilted.
The reason for lack definition was the fact that this was being printed on a black banner and was to be interpreted as 'coming out of the darkness'.
Kind of my version of black velvet paintings.

The green colour of the mouth seems to be a bit out of place. Maybe not as bright? Like the out deep effect though.

What you need is some contrast and depth. The mouth thing looks like a flat green pancake... so all i see is 2 eyes and a pancake with teeth coming towards me :D
Use reference for sharks mouth... could really use some more color but thats a question of style and concept i guess.
Try adding some funky curvy light reflections on the skin, might make it real cool :)
Umm... just a few imo ideas :)
All the best, Oliver

Hi Guys
Thanks for responding. I guess I should have explained the story behind this earlier on. It started out as a mechanical 'cyber-shark' thus the red eyes and green mouth. There was to be a green 'other worldly' type glow on the inside where one assumes the machinery would be. In the run-up to this I based the mouth more heavily on reference. In otherwords, how would a shark look at this angle. In the end it was judged (and I agree) that the mouth looked too wimpy and to achieve the 'yikes' impact I took some artistic lisence and moved more towards the 'caricature' side of things that I thought achieved the effect better. As I mentioned earlier, it's being printed on a black banner and the effect was for it to be coming out of complete darkness. Originally there was no definition on the body at all.
Cheers,
M
