Hot diggity... and I thought I made big posts...
I agree about the eyes. I try and get those right immediately when I draw. Excellent figure drawings, but what I really like is that tree. Also, what does that blasted tombstone say?
Sincerely,
Chris

how far apart are all these drawings from eachother, and how much reference are you using ??

Thanks for the comments comrades and if you see problems please point them out to me. I'm certianly not even near the par of most excellent artists, but I'd at least try and fill the gap a tad bit .

Out of everything I do I might use 2% of referencing. These all averaged maybe 20 minutes tops except for my self portrait at the bottom.
No reference here except for the pic of Danzig as the Angel (back up top). I saw a picture of the girl in the towel and did her from memory (if that counts as reference). Other then that, the rest of it is just from the old noggin.
And the runes on the tombstone don't say anything. I just conjured them out of thin air.
I did all these today:
Didn't use a reference here, just sketched it out of memory on the ride home today.

These are great pics for no reference!
I especially like the second on your first message on top. The guy with the shades and the tatoos. Great facial expression and shading.

if you started using reference and did some life studies you could get pretty good.
did you use any reference for the wolverine? cuz it does kinda resemble hugh jackman.

Here's how i use reference:
I make a quick sketch of it from when i see it then I go draw it either sooner or later.
I got some Wolvie pics, sketched his face then sat down to some star trek and did the rest from memory. When I say sketched it means a minimal amount of lines; just shorthand and making a semblance of it.
The truth is, I just now, as of maybe 2 days ago, decided to start using references more often. But I'm certianly not going to use them if I just want to get something onto paper off the top of my head before the idea is lost.

I like your stuff. The shading is good; the shapes comes out pretty well. The middle pair of eyes on the first page seems a little flat, though..
Keep it on!

that's a good way to use reference... i've done that before also. i do feel that you need to do some real studies from your reference. mostly the actual structure of the face. your faces are decent, but i think you need to study the underlying structure and planes of the face.
your torsos are also going in the right direction, but some anatomy studies would help a lot. again, it's the underlying structure that i'm thinking about. in some of your drawings, the forarm curves too much. remember the ulna goes from the elbow to the outside of the wrist in almost a straight line, so the forarm should curve a lot, even muscular forarms.
there's also some muscle wedging (where the muscles pass each other) that would give some realism to your drawings.
