I've been lurking on ConceptArt for a long long time. So I've finally decided to start posting some of my sketches.

Crits and comments are more than welcome.

Here's a 15 minute drawing from life drawing class.

MuffinMan,

Thank you for that helpful, intelligent, and most of all humble response. It was very enlightening.

And here is a quick study from the Atlas of Foreshortening:

i think the life drawings from behind the people looked really cool(but the second ones legs are a little out of proportion;) ).
the figure in the high contrast one is also good, but it is hard to tell about the shoadows, you could try to vary the shadows more(only looks like three different shades of grey). :D
good luck

Hey BuddhistMonk...yeah if there's a lot of foreshortening I tend to draw the figure in simpler shapes. Otherwise it hurts my head...But I'll definitely work on my shadows!

Dingoegret, you'd add more values to the high-contrast pic? I was kinda scared to...I was worried about the picture turning out...too confusing, if you get my meaning. I have been meaning to redraw that picture though, so when I do, I'll probably try to add in more values. And darker darks. I just don't think my core shadows in that picture are black enough.

I just looked at the third life drawing...you're right...his legs are waaaaay too short. Thanks for pointing that out.

Enough babbling, here's a head that I copied out of kchen's notes:

And here's a quick tonal study I did. It's supposed to be an egg. Does it look like an egg?

Ramoutar,

Scanned pics tend to wash out a bit, taking some contrast with it. The shadow of the egg (yes, I could tell that it was an egg:clapping2 ) is darker than any tone on the high contrast drawing and even then that egg's shadow isn't anywhere NEAR black.

The tonal study looks decent. The grain of the paper makes it look unclear though. Also, I'd like to see more drawings, but you need to work on proportion and distinguishing between the hips, ribcage, and midsection inbetween.

Keep at it man.

Sincerely,
Chris

Hey everyone!

I've been swamped at work and haven't much time to draw lately.

Chris, thanks for the suggestions man I really appreciate it. I definitely see what you're talking about in terms of differentiating between the ribcage and hips. I'll try to post more life drawings when I actually get back to a life drawing session which will hopefully be in the next few weeks.

Anyhoo, here are a few drawings I did from the Loomis' Figure Drawing book:
