thanks all who told me my last drawing was too hard to read, I knew there was something wrong with it but I couldn't put a finger on it myself.
This time my fingers just completely spazzed out on me and hit Ctrl+w and N, which means "close image and do not save". Ah well, I gotta get to my tdome pic anyway, so moving onwards. :D
Looking forwards to today's pics, people! my buddy just thought of two ideas, the hotel from silent hill 2 and luigi's mansion, but I'm sure you folks will put out all kinds of crazy stuff today hohoho :chug:

this is an OPEN TOPIC, doesn't have to be an envoriment
this could be a scene in Hotel Mysterioius, the bartender, guests? anything related to the hotel.
I would think sort of..classic boardgames(clue, guess who...etc).

7th Guest was an AMAZING game... still one of my favorites!
So, in saying that, how many people will draw Stauf?

They give the same room to several people ...
and just put them in different dimensions.
Without telling them.
Works pretty well usually but sometimes weird things happen.

Hope this isn't too big. I'm pretty happy with this one. I used a limited color pallette again and I really think it helps me stay focused:

Crits - If you could change/fix one thing, what would it be?
So far my favorite concept is Signature. IMO that's worth fleshing out as more than a daily sketch.

hey all...going straight from work to class today (or close to) so won't be able to do the sketch unless late tonight.
Dan - 15 minutes? amazing. you rock
Railboy - very cool concept and I like the limited palette. I can't really think of what I'd change other than usually a bedside table is just that...beside, so I'm wondering how the furniture relates in there. But that's kinda beside the point.
mog - it's a cool idea that could be cooler with more time given to it. are you planning on doing more to it?
signature - I love the concept and would love to read a book about that picture.
(the rest are good too, but I'm out of time right now....signature...write the book to go with the picture)

these are looking great!

Railboy- since you asked, I think it is an awesome perspective but it sort of lacks and attention-getter inside the key-hole. I see some red stuff next to the minibar (blood?).. mabey accentuate that!
Cybot Floor- thats an interesting scene.. I think it would look neat if you witched the angle to a close-up of the barman with the two people behind him
brawkstake- nice for a first try! keep experimenting with the tools. Goodbrush.com has some interesting tips on digipainting..

Railboy - great idea/angle with that keyhole. I didn't notice the blood (if that's what it is) until it was mentioned by Cubot Floor. But I like that's it's not noticed right away. Nice that every object is only partially visible. Makes me nervous. There's something not right in that room. Color: working out great. Has an Edward Hopper feel to it. The mood: a pinch of David Lynch.

Caspergt - You nailed it, I was actually thinking of Blue Velvet when I drew it. Cybot - I was going for a "can't tell what's wrong" feeling, and I might have overdone it by not adding something more obvious. Oh well.
farmer - Really moody and weird. Kind of dream-like. Personally I would turn the eye into a painting or something... I don't think it needs to be that flashy to be effective.

i figure in all those hotel murder mysteries the murderer has to come up with an interesting way of getting -into- the room in the first place...

I love dan's and moops'. i've been lurking around and not saying much (dan and silent brain [sp?] are impressing me all the time but i never really say anything) and i think i might start posting stuff if i get some more time in my schedule, i just got a wacom and its fun but im not getting quality work out of it, i just sketch and whatnot as a hobby, it's not a career goal, just something i do to take my mind off studying stuff. maybe a topic will come up soon to inspre me, or you all's work might inspire me as well, i enjoy viewing it.

Welcome Dan! I forever remember you as The man who brought butter and/or margarine into deadly partly-undead WW2 aerial combat (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7332&perpage=30&pagenumber=2#post62223)

And just like I knew, the diversity of today's submissions has been wall to wall. :D
sabre- props for the silent hill reference! :chug:
7TH GUEST, omg...now that sure brought back memories...the stabbing scene...the er sex scene...the hassles of trying to get memmaker to free up enough memory to get it to run...the "sexy" sequel...........

No time for drawing today. Music and Evil Dead took over.
Moops - I really like the color contrast.
Dan Milligan - Wow! You did that in 15 minutes! I feel like a tortoise...
farmer - I like grunginess of the scene. And I am really drawn to the eye.
Railboy - I agree with Hunger_Artist, it is a great scene, but nothing too exciting going on inside. If you just had one thing for the viewer to pick up on, like maybe a shadow on the wall of someone hanging from a noose, or something. It would make it that much more dramatic.
Iotrez - This one stands out! By far my favorite today.
Til tomorrow...

I hope this is ok. About an hour and a half worth of work. This is one my first landscapes in a very long time, so it's good to see if I am up to the challenge of doing one again. It's based off a famous hotel in my area. Local legend is that's it's supposedly haunted by a butler, a maid, and a couple former guests, one of which jumped to his death.
