I'm an indie developer working on a Flash game for Facebook. The project is fairly well progressed, and I now require approximately 20-30 128x128 pixel character avatar illustrations comprising of the upper part of the body, posed, possibly with equipment like swords, wands, staffs etc.

For a style reference, please see the links below. I only need a cropped part around the head and shoulders:

The project features high quality artwork, so please only apply if you can produce work similar to the standard shown above or better. Character types will be typical fantasy races: humans, elves, dwarves, undead, orcs, dark elves...You will need to demonstrate soft feminine faces, and tough looking male characters.

You will have several months in which to complete the work if required. I will need to hold the copyright to the works. Budget wise I can stretch to $100 per illustration, totalling $2000-$3000.

A more detailed brief will be provided to the successful freelancer.

Thanks in advance for your submissions.

SD.

CLARIFICATION
--------------------
To achieve the quality I am after, you will probably need to work at the same scale as the examples, and then scale down to 128 x 128, especially if you use broad brush strokes. The successful freelancer needs to demonstrate good shading and lighting giving illustrations a 3D feel. I am not looking for the flatter comic-book look.

This is an example of where the portrait will be used (example uses the work of Anna Rigby):

The deadline for portfolio submissions is 15th January 2010 12:00 GMT.

Many thanks to all the excellent submissions so far.

Wow, l I had to delete a lot of posts here. Please, remember that you should respond to job postings in private. Send an email, and when there is no email in the job post, send a private message. The goal is to keep this forum as clutter free as possible so it is easy to read and browse for everyone. This also gives all employers an equal chance to get seen, as no one's thread gets buried under a ton of "Check out my portfolio" links and "Email sent" posts.
