3 years ago when I upgraded my both of my Macs to newer Intel processor models I lost Painter 7. (Still my preferred version) Recently, I upgraded from Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) to OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) and Painter 7 began working again.
The problem is the Intous 4 driver installed was not recognized by the system upgrade so I couldn't map the tablet to the monitor. I went to Wacom's website and downloaded a new driver for Mac OS 10.6 and Painter 7 stopped working.
If anybody remembers, the problem is that a mouse can be used for painting in Painter 7, but when using the tablet and pen it won't apply any paint to the canvas except in straight lines (with the "V" key depressed)
This is the most screwy thing I have encountered in the 20 years that I have used a Mac to paint in Photoshop and later, Painter 1.0.
Painter 7 works fine and the tablet pen will apply freehand paint without a Wacom driver installed, but I can't accurately map the tablet to the monitor.
I'm not one to hold on to older software unless I feel it is far better than a newer version and to me, Painter 7 was the last really good version of Painter. I can get by with later versions, but they just aren't as easy to work with, for me anyway.
It seems to me that this should be an easy fix, but so far neither Wacom nor Corel has been any help. **Groan**
