I just picked some up for my drawing class and i'm at home now. I want to use it in my sketchbook. The ink has a long tube though that sticks into the ink and i'm not sure the correct way that one normally does this. Do i just stick the pen in the jar? It seems thats not how it goes because then ink gets all over the side of the stylus. also when i'm done, do i have to wash it off or can i just let it dry? the kind where you put a metal tip on the pen, then dip it (i guess) and draw. not the kind where you fill the pen with ink.
Thanks

i always just dipped the pen or brush in the ink, its kinda messy, but i never minded, that was part of the fun =)
and ya, make sure you clean your nibs and brushes after using them, they will get real messy if you dont

Hi
If this is what you mean with a long tube then you could use it to take out small amounts of ink, makes it less messy and itīs easier to control the amount of ink that you pick up with your pen. Just tap the tube in the container you have chosen. You could also put the nib on the tube if want very little ink. Sorry about my bad english.

In my opinion, quill pens (the metal tipped pens that you dip) are not that practical since they hold very little ink and constantly redunking pens is a pain. However, you can get some very interesting strokes from them that other pens cannot replicate. Just practice and once you've had enough, move on to something else.
It's good to wash the pens after use you them. My suggestion is that you fill up a small container full of water and scrub them down with soap. Running them over the faucet wastes a lot of water.
