How to change the brush icon in painter 11

Ok, before you say " its in preferences/general" know that I tried that...

the only icon I can seem to get to show up is the circle with the pen tilt icon.. doesn't matter what I switch too I cant seem to get the old brush size icons I had in painter 10.
Ive attached a pic below of what I get..

The circle and the line is the advanced brush ghosting, turn that off and see if that fixes it.

I prefer the advanced brush ghosting, so maybe give it a try!

And in the preferences there are about 5 or 6 different variants, from a torus to a cross or triangle. I'm not sure what you are looking for, but I've added a screen shot, if that helps.
