Hi...:medusachow:
I'll be happy (really happy) for any and all critique and comments I can get.
you know how it is, you draw more if someone takes a notice to your art, it gets you all exited and you draw lite your on fire. I want to draw more, a lot more, and so I hope someone will have something to say about anything i put in here.
I never had a BS before so I don't know what to expect. Hopefully some ppl will like it or it will be a total waste of space.

I second brubaker regarding the first image.
Regarding your pencils/pens, I suggest you strive for consistent line quality. For example, if you want a thicker outline then try to make it the same thickness throughout the entire outline of the figure, etc. Details, etc. inside the main outline can be thinner, of course; but then, make them consistently thinner. You get the idea. :)
On the other hand, if you prefer accenting certain areas of a line such as the main thrust of an arc, do that throughout.
Consistency can add a great deal to your drawings.

Traveler: Thank you, and I'll see what I can do about the lines, the new picses where done last night and then I hadn't read the comment yet so there aren't any line consistency to speak of in them but I'll definitely try get it next time.
brubaker: Thank you! :)

The Unfortunate Mr.Chip
Mr. Christopher Chip, is 31 years old. Prematurely balding. And enjoys Ice-cream, peanut-butter and long walks on the beach. His life has just taken a turn for the worse and he has lost a lot of blood. But on a lighter note, he is hallucinating about orange fishes. That could be, but isn't, koifish. he also got a new eye-patch...'cus the hole in his head really freaked people out.

I like the last piece. I'm starting to think about incorporating some type into some of my artwork. It really adds a entirely new dimension. You should also try some texture overlays over things like simple backgrounds. A little effort in that area can make a bid difference. Also, take a look at the following SB (if you haven't already) for some inspiration along similar lines:

Some great weird and funky stuff. These are a mix of digital and traditional right? Seems like you're painting with a high opacity. Am I right?

Good stuff. I like your style. Some of them looks like finished images more than sketches.
I'm still sketching b&w, and have still some way to go before coloring. I wonder, how much time do you spend for a color sketch approximately?

NathanH :
Yeah your right, mix of both, but mostly digital, I have a real hard time with traditional, cus god I don't possess the patient it takes to wait for things to dry X) and I do tend to more opaque colours, I find that when i draw whit to transparent colors i get really messy paint shapes/fills. But it does vary greatly depending on the effect I want to get with a particular stroke.
gordebak:
Happy you like it :)
myself i can't sketch in b&w at all or well I can but i don't like it, I have to much trouble getting the colors to look good over the values later, I sketch in color and check the values by switching on and of a grayscale adjustment layer.
humm a color sketch...it can take everywhere from 20 min to 7 hours...but I usually land somewhere 2-3 hours...(but Im extremely slow and I usually don't have an ideé to begin with, so I experiment alot, and don't thumbnail as much as i should. actually If i don't have a deadline I like it to take long)
how long do you spend on a sketch?
gordebak
June 28th, 2010, 05:56 PM
Hah, I'm not a very hard worker. I sketch usually in 10-15 minutes. I'm not a professional, and don't have deadlines. Can take my time over something, but I like to wander in different small sketches. If you saw my crappy sketches, you know what I mean.
People keep telling me to use references and do life drawing, and I know I need to do them, but I couldn't get over my fear barrier about realistic drawing yet.
Anyways, you're really good. Keep going.

gordebak:
you don't need to draw realistically to benefit from the use of references, just having something to look at while you draw out stuff from your head keeps your drawing grounded/believable...kinda gives it gravity. you just need it there to remember how things work, you aren't suppose to copy it :)
