It's an interesting idea. the sunglasses looks a bit weird... Perhaps they're a bit too big.

The use of lightning is a great idea but you cropped the picture, I think it would be better with more space around the girl.

i think they are goggles. Looks good!
She maybe needs a few clockwork automatons standing behind her though :)

Nicely done - I like the palette.

1 crit - the window frame shadow being cast onto the body and the wall behind are on the same plane; the shadow on the wall should be offset since her silhouette indicates she's being lit from the right.

Pretty awesome! I love steampunk. Though I second what tsgilbert said about the shadows.

Otherwise, it looks pretty damn sweet. Though somehow the hat makes it feel a little awkward to me.. But that might've been your intention. Perhaps it suggests that the character is a bit of an eccentric? Lotsa possibilities.

looks cool, i like the character. in my opinion the goggles should be closer together and maybe a bit smaller, but i like the overall design.

as for the shadow, i think the problem with it is that you 'just overlayed it', it doesn't follow the contours of the body, which makes it seem like it's hovering over the character and not part of the image.

rv8: steampunk is 'league of extraordinay gentlemen', jules verne type stuff - at least i'm not sure i can explain it much better than that =) submarines and weird machinery coupled with victorian age stylee, that kinda thing.
