Hey, I've been thinking for a time now that I should probably practice some skills for doing comics, but I haven't collected them since I was 13, and most of them I only bought because I liked the art in them...

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on some good books I should look at. I've been more into independent style comics rather than the mainstream, which seem to have nothing interesting in them (just good guy bad guy type, boring stuff). And there's so much stuff out now I don't know where to begin looking.

... so if people could let me in on their favorite comic books, that would be great!

Hey man, I am very much the same. I am more of a fan of indie comics than anything else. But in regards to your questions I would reccomend to take a look at a few of my favorites.

1. 100 Bullets: Brian Azzarello and Edwardo Risso

2. The Keepers of the Maser: Massimiliano Frezzato

3. The Red Star: Christian Goss and Archangel Studios

4. Transmetropolitan: Derrick Robertson and Warren Ellis

I personally like the artwork from Topcow comics and Wildstorm.

I have to highly recommend 100 Bullets. It's the only comic I collect anymore.
