Sweet! I've seen bits and pieces of this around the internet and it looked amazing, but never the whole thing. Thanks for sharing.

This is incredible! Once upon a time I remember doing an ebay search in the hope of purchasing a copy of the books, oh how naive I was.

Can't believe it was scanned and made available back in October!!! An absolutely great way to start the new year, I totally expect the quality of the world's art to be raised ten fold in this coming year.

Hmmm... unfortunate, they did take it off because the Famous Artist School still has copyright to it. It's a shame that such good literature had been taken off. It definitely shows Jason right in how art schools do monopolize in the language of art and illustration.

All that's gonna have to be is that we'll have to wait until the copyright becomes public domain... I think it's only a few more years 'til then.

I googled it and got to this download page:

it includes 3 chapters.

Er... not so much.

After some searching, it seems that the copyright was registered in 1950 (or earlier, it was registered lesson by lesson with the later ones in '50). The most optimistic scenario is that this copyright is considered a "work-for-hire" scenario and was published the same year it was registered, which puts the copyright expiration at 2045.

A less optimistic scenario is researching the date of death for the longest living author and tacking on 70 years.

So... yeah. Don't hold yer breath.

I've seen these courses! My grandma had these when she was younger, and I did them when I was verrrrryy small. If you can find them, use them, because they're incredible. I hope she still has them so I can borrow..

Hi Silwynar,

Great to know that you keep a link to the FA School courses. I've got the cartoon course, a really fine piece of teaching.
Could you give me the link that will make me able to download the courses? Of course it has to be kept apart and never published on the web.
Please use my mail adress : j.lauga@wanadoo.fr

Keep going, I do appreciate your sketchbook.

Thank you in advance, yours truly Jacques
