well the first one shows some good values, and the second has good anatomy... but they look a little wiggly. and you need to clip your nails. :D

some very basic exercises you might try would help imensely i think. For example the technique (if not the structuring) of the childs face and the hand holding glass sketches is pretty good. But youre lacking some control of the symmetry.
I would suggest drawing circles, ovals, shading them into speheres and eggs. keep them quick and loose, dont be concerned about 'getting it right the first time'. Move quickly, go over the same area again and again until you have many lines and then choose the ones you like that are most symmetrical.
i believe it will help a lot in your sketches :)

Nice sketches, I like the hand. About the face, try to flip it horizontaly and you'll notice there's a lack of symetry btw left and right side of the face, other than that, it's a nice face
The last one is hard to see, you can try to change the contrast in Photoshop or in other image editor, so we can see it better

your life drawings were way better than the doodles. try drawing the classroom. other students the teacher if you want to draw during class that way you don't reinforce the mistakes that your mind has with anatomy. it's much easier to work from the real thing and you'll be learning. on the childs face. don't be afraid to throw down some guide lines as you begin. sometimes it's easy to get caught up in getting the features right that it's easy to totally miss the basic direction and form of the head. any how i'm just rambling now so i'll stop. post some more. and i wouldn't worry about your lines being a bit wiggly (call it guestural lines it sounds better) usually beginners have the opposite problem of being too stiff and mechanical looking. don't tick the teacher off, it might help if you weren't drawin naked chicks in algebra. good luck

Nooo! Never draw the teacher! They get really pissed off. In 9th grade I drew one of my teachers. Man, she got pissed. She thought I was drawing her as a joke, but I was actually drawing her seriously. She got real close to giving me a referal (And I don't exactly have a good rep with the principal because I drew 2 dogs humping teach other in a friend's yearbook as a joke and a teacher saw. Hehe not good). Luckily I didn't argue with her and told her I was sorry and it wouldn't happen again. Maybe if I drew her better I wouldn't have gotten into trouble. Okay, draw them, just make them look better then they do in real life!

if you really want to improve get some good anatomy books, trust me, after drawing like my 4rth person using an anatomy book for guidence i could see a huge difference...
http://www.bodybuilders.com/ has some good images of very muscular people....good practice, but an anatomy book will be your biggest friend

Two Words man: Burne Hogarth. He has pretty much set the standard for drawing anatomically correct figures and most of them are not just plain poses. He has a lot of books that deal with motion and action, and everything is in perfect perspective. His books are like 20 bucks at any book store with an art section. The last book I bought by him was Dynamic Figure Drawing , which should be enough to set you straight with some practice. If your local book store doesn't have anything, then shame on them.

still...you need to practice more before you post any drawings...oh and this is a concept art forum...you know that don't you little jackson....i suggest next time you post put on concept ideas...this forum is all about concept ideas drawn on paper or digitally with a touchpad on a PC.

I'm sorry muffin man, One of the main reasons I was drawn to conceptart.org, was the pencil and charcoal sketches. Note that I am only posting in the sketches & doodles section. I also thought that this was a website where people could not only make comments on things, but critique it so I could improve and grow. I have only picked up a pencil about 1 month ago. I apologize if I do not meet your standards muffin man.I suck, but I don't give up

Another good anatomy book if you can find it is George B. Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy. It's allways been my favorite.

I would also try to practice working around circles...... for example the faces......start with a oval or a circle and work around those. Good start. Keep it up.

something that i do.....and im not sure it works for everybody, is, get a junk pad of paper or whatever paper you dont really care about wastin'.
then draw cirlces, draw them until you can actually feel your arm and hand loosen up, and dont "draw from the wrist" try and use your whole arm. Even if its small paper. Seriously, i just draw circles in one stroke and only once around and make hundreds of them......then i make a whole bunch of nice fluid curves and swirls and shizznit like dat.......it warms you up and its easier to draw "organicly". i usually do this for about 20 min before a long drawing session.
try it and tell me if you notice a difference.
good luck man and keep up the good work

your showing promise and it was brave to post pictures of hands they can be tough but your doing well get a book that concentrates on anatomy for the artist rather than a medical one theres plenty out there and remember that most parts of human proportions r copied in other parts of the body eg your hieght matches your armspan your foot fits into your forearm legs upto the hip are the same lenght as your torso keep posting your good

Mcgrory, thanx man, and i had never thought that the proportions of the human body were copied in anotehr place, it never crossed my mind,
thank you everybody, I'll post agian when i'm at a good point in my anatomy studies
