Hey all, this is where I'll post basically anything and everything I do, I'm devoted to becoming a better artist with the ultimate goal of being able to represent anything I want from imagination. the Illustration course I'm currently on has very little focus on draughtsmanship and I'm aware of how tough the competition is for the kind of work I want to do - concept/fantasy art - so don't hold back with the crits.

i hear ya man i had the same problem. started my illus degree in october, found it was crap so i quit. about to start at an atelier.

good contrast, solid body and you seem to know about rhythm in figures even if you arent executing it brilliantly yet . im not seeing any hard edges! every edge is kind of soft and blurry. i suggest using harder brushes

post more work!!! good start but you need to be churning out stuff if you want to improve draughtmanship. its hard to crit someone from just one piece, start uploading stuff from your real life sketchbooks if you have any, and give us more to sink our teeth into

peace

yeah I need to post way more, starting to get back into the swing of things though. new stuff; a couple of sculpture drawings and a concept rough I got pretty frustrated with, started off with poor construction in the legs and torso with the initial sketch then spent hours trying to correct it in photoshop, gahh! still, the athlete with a python was a great experience, it's an incredibly dynamic statue.

thanks for the crit sleep! I tend to fuzz things up in PS using the same soft brush for everything, gotta experiment more! an atelier must be great, I take it you're going to LARA?

Generally I think you are in for a good start. The last two sketches especially are very nice, good job with those. Anatomy wise there still are some problems, but if you study it properly like in the last one it looks really good!

Well looks like somehow you got the correct gesture in the last two drawings, but I think there are still some proportion issues

here's a nude I did a couple of months ago and one I did today, both no reference. and a painting from way back. there's a lot of surrealist illusions in this piece, can you see the other skull? expect more stuff tomorrow.

master study and a couple of overworked anatomy studies, don't ask why he's hold a stick...

There's promise in your work, just whats niggling at me is the proportions mainly the heads. Keep at it though i'm certain you'll achieve your goals if you give it your all.
