Has anyone here ever self published a B&W Graphic Album in zine format, or seen them about? I am thinking along the lines of fantasy art etc.
The cost of publishing a colour book formated graphic album would be crazy, and considering the popularity of self published comic books and the lack of funds of many artists ,I am surprised I have never seen any B&W Zine format graphic albums in my own country or on the net.
Are there any like this your country?

Also do you think there would be much interest in a well executed art zine?
I know if there was one featuring 32 pages or more of pencil or ink illustrations by say an artist like Andy Braz, it would rule.

any thoughts?

Some members self-pub a book of illustrations through Lulu. I purchased one a while back. It was cool. I wanted more art in it but it was cool. :D

Thanks, I checked out Lulu and it sounds like a very good alternative, especialy for publishing a colour book, plus good distro. Did'nt find many graphic books though.
I still like the idea of going to a local printers and having a box of books on hand. I think people would maybe be interested in purchasing a full book of illustrations, rather than one print, likely to be cheaper too.
I think every serious artist should publish there own art book, much better to have something to hold and good to have available among everyday contacts.

Which country are you from Drawnsword? - I think you're missing a bit the purpose of what a zine is: it's supposed to be the easiest way to publish your stuff - that means making a master print, and going to to copy machine and start reproducing each page, in black and white - that's the easiest way to do it. I say concentrate on black and white illustration, and do as I suggest - that's how real zines are done. Lulu.com is more complex (and way more expensive for the final customer to acquire).

GriNGo, thanks for reminding me this, yeah easiest way to go and inexpensive for customers and myself. I have done it the same way you described before with comics and a music zine years ago.
I'm from New Zealand. Have you seen any art zines about in your country or abroad?

You could go the pamphlet (sp) path then, though for the life of me I could not get the layout correct. I drove me nuts the first time. (Could probably do better now, it was a few years ago).

There are online brochure programs that with organize your pages into a pamphlet(sp) and make it into a pdf for printing by a local print shop.
