View Full Version : Need some help scaling a picture

Hey there, I have a project where I have to draw a master drawing. I chose Raphael's "Christ in Glory". So my teacher wants us to print out the pic and use a pencil to make a grid of it so we can scale it into a larger image on a larger paper. Anybody know how to do it?

Just draw a grid on top of the printout where each square is 1cm/inch/whatever and draw a grid on your drawing paper where each square is 2cm/inch/whatever, or something different. Really easy.

It's a pretty easy technique, so chill.
Remember though, in order for it to work, your large image must have the same aspect ratio/ proportions as the smaller, or you have to crop the large one.
Basically, if you kept the proportions identical, if the tip of the nose is halfway up the 6 inch photo, the tip of the nose is exactly half way up the 6 foot version, repeat.
You can probably Google detailed instructions (you should be able to, dudes have been doing this for 400 years..), if you can't I'll post more detail in the morning but it's 2am here and I must sleep..
