Hi there!
I am in need of an artist (or artists) to help me with a concept sketch of a female steampunk costume that I will be having made.
This costume will be somewhat unique in the sense that it will be a ballroom dress (think: tango/waltz, etc) so any sort of layers will be primarily an illusion. It does, however, need to appear steampunk enough that it stands out.
The event at which I hope to wear this dress is themed "Wild Wild West." Any steampunk artist might recall that a movie with this same title was indeed steampunk in theme, which is part of my motivation.
I have been sourcing both small watch gears and swarovski crystals, both of which will need to be incorporated into the design. Any interested designer is welcome to email me and I will send you additional information (including pictures of a sampling of the gears and crystals), but I wanted to warn you that this is both simple and a bit "different" than most other steampunk commissions. (The additional information I will send you will essentially be requirements [length of skirt, sleeves, etc] that a ballroom dress must have / must not have, from there you are welcome to get creative.)
I am only in need of simple sketches, pencil/pen is fine but at the very least I would appreciate a few color blocks on the side of the sketch to suggest the color of each fabric. I will pay $45 a sketch, and am open to hearing from more than one artist on this so that I can have some things to use. The sketch that I choose to have made into a dress will essentially be used by me for personal use of dress creation -- and I am happy to send you a photo of the final product when the dress maker completes it.
Please send me a link to at least two female steampunk costumes you have drawn in your email -- anyacrane[at]gmail.com (Please reference the words "ARTISTNAME - Steampunk Costume" in the subject of your email, where ARTISTNAME is whatever you go by, so that I can ensure all the emails go to the proper folder. Thanks!)
