It always baffles me how people can make scribbly blobs that look like things. (That's a compliment. I'm bad at them.)

Post more stuff!

Post more stuff! I boil it down to being able to use the right gestures/impressions. But the image would also need to be in the viewers head already, even just a slight impression buried in their memories is enough to make that connection, well, at least for me. :)

uhhhh anyhoot, I'm subscribed Amanieu. :teeth: /E

Hey there, great stuff so far; in particular your life drawings are super cool. They feel so solid and your grasp of anatomy is most impressive!

Keep 'em coming!

Katie

P.S. I was going to type this post in French but it's been a while since I've written any so I chickened out!!!

Thanks guys, well DiR3Kt, about the anatomy and the gestures i've learned a lot ( and i continue as there's so much things to discover every day!) with many different ressources.

First, Burne Hogarth's anatomy artbooks, then a lot of classic and Renaissance artworks ( especially Michelangelo, i love his work ), i worked deeper in the anatomy with Sara Simblet's book ( very very complete ) and a mix of documents and references from everywhere to have different standpoints!

I've seen Vilppu's artwork for the first time last year and i studied a lot each pages of his anatomy book. I draw a lot outside in cafes, bars, railway station, plazas etc... and the sketches sessions at my school. Also i feel sketching is freedom so i always have been drawing in a rough style, i feel better the lines, the anatomy. :)

Hi Gayatri Badani, well i'll say it's a lot of work from life, drawing, sketching, drawing everytime! people's attitudes, faces, posings, animals etc... and read and understand at the same time anatomy, studying a lot of various books and ressources, be opened to every styles. :) i draw a lot in cafés ( and i love coffees of course double reason ^^).

By the way it took me a bit more than one hour to make this sketch.

Merci Leo Ki, Thank you :blahblah:

To finalize our 3D training in Angoulême and prepare the diploma, i've started with two teamates a 3D animation project.

My team director has nice ideas and we are developing the story piece by piece. I'm doing all the concept art and the storyboard. This is the first things i'll start to show piece by piece, later we'll start the 3D modelling.

So here's the main character, a little robot who is arriving on a lost planet. I've started first to do many diferent shapes and styles:

Stay tuned! there's a lot more to come!

Really beautiful colour studies. How did you get all that nice texture on the boxes in the warehouse?

Amanieu
February 8th, 2010, 03:24 PM
Well there is not a specific technic, i made very simple forms and in the end simple deformed crates. I added many dirt and splatters textures, used papers, different type of wood textures. I used a lot of layers playing on the opacity, variation of colours and opposition lights/shadows.
