EOW 126: Solstice Temple

Brief
A temple built especially around two specific days of the year - the Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice.

(Note: though the druids/celts are famous for this, don't feel limited to that era or culture!)

Evidence of use of temple to capture light of solstice days.

Here's my final

Definitely NOT happy with it but hey, up to the next..
The concept is not very clear and the buildings have cost me way to much time. A lot more than I wanted to.

Is it not necessary that the wip's are posted?? I see a lot of finals without wip-shots in the other thread.

Cheers!

"After centuries of poluting the skies around the mountains of Glgothaa the alchemists were cut off from their most needed ingredient, aeno, sunlight from Aenova, the strongest star shining over the planet. The alchemists had to find a way of gaining acces to aeno for their brews and machineries to work.

The solution was to build a massive tower wich would charge and store aeno for them. To not wear out the giant diamond that lead the aeno down to the charger the sunspar only worked on the day of summer solstice when the sun shined strong and for many hours.

Thousands of years after the alchemists were gone the slave people of Maar inhabited the cave cathedrals of Glgothaa. They had a strong tradition of celebrating the sun and soon made the sunspar their most sacred temple. Once a year, on the day of the solstice, the once great, now rusty and torned machinery of the alchemists would temporarly start working. This became the slave peoples 'Day of sun wonders'."

Fuzziest. ther are no images posted here. If you read the frequently posted instructions , the OUTSIDE hosted icon means not posted as an attachment to CA, but linked form another host ie photobucket etc.

WIPS are not required to post in the finals in EOW. that is a CHOW requirement. again as I have stated many times I think posting the WIPS is detremental to the impact of the final image. keep them in the WIP thread where they can be viewed critted and learned form

on a farther note. please do not post anything but final images and icons in the Final thread. all other comments andposts will be removed when the poll is posted. if you have something to say the working thread is where that belongs, thanks for participating in EOW adn the CA activities

I voted for Gaius ..... because I felt that this piece was closest to the actual meaning of a "solstice". There are two solstice per year - the summer solstice which is the longest day of the year and the winter solstice which is the shortest day of the year. I felt that Giaus's piece most definately falls within the winter solstice. And it is very nicely done! I especailly like the color pallet and the scale. :)
