Does anyone here wear 'progressive lenses'? If so, how do you deal with the fishbowl effect and constant refocusing?

I just got a pair a few days ago and I'm having a really hard time trying to find the "sweet spot" when drawing or reading. Yes, I know you have to point your nose at what you want to bring into focus, but it seems like I have to fight my glasses whenever I want to see something clearly. And when I do finally lock onto the sweet spot, it's still a little blurry.

Is it better to just have 2 different pairs of glasses (one pair for distance and one pair for reading/drawing)?

And before you ask, yes, I'm over 40. :(

I can't really speak from personal experience as I only have mild -glasses, but from the experiences of ppl close to me:

*My stepdad. He's nearing 60 and has all kinds of glasses lying around the house. He, too, had some issues with the progressives (mainly it made his eyes hurt) so in the end he opted for +glasses for regular use as he figured it's more important and only uses the progressives when driving, rarely uses the -ones anymore.

*My granny, however, kept forgetting where the 'other' ones were all the time so she mainly uses the progressives: easy to watch TV and knit at the same time=).

Basically my suggestion would be to try them out for a while more, some techniques take time to master, but if you continue to get semiblurry vision and it bothers you enough you should just use both according to necessity or pick one.

I think it depends on the person, my gran abso loves her progressives, my granddad can't stand them!
